When your dog dies .. and you want another one ..

I am seeking some opinions on this as I have not been in this situation before …
my dog recently passed away. He was elderly and with us a long time . He was such an easy dog and really never any problems with him at all.

I am wanting to get another dog .. and have a strong urge to get the same breed again- but is this wrong ? Am I just trying to replace the one I’ve lost ?

what have you done when you’ve been in this situation?

Took me a year after my precious old lady died to get another puppy, she’s a similar breed and like a previous poster said I’m still in utter shock going from a well behaved old dog to a crazy pup! They are quite similar though and new Ddog does get spoiled a bit more as I know how short their lives really are now. She has healed my heart but I will admit to having a tear or a lump in my throat on a walk sometimes if a memory surfaces.
