When we got ddog now 6yo we had 4 other ddogs.
As of yesterday she is on her own.
And not coping well. Sitting shaking in a corner this morning....
Dh has taken the week off work as the last loss was expected.. We go away at the weekend and are taking ddog. What happens when we get home? Have discussed a new routine that gets her out more and meal times changed.
Had to bin old beds as they were manky.. Better to keep old blankets washed /get all new? Hadn't anticipated being left with just 1 so soon. More guilt. Feel fee to add on thoughts on another ddog.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
I haven't been in your position as none of my dogs were really affected by losing their siblings. But I would keep everything as normal as possible. I would have thought familiarity would bring some comfort.
DDog needs time to grieve too. She'll be missing her friend as much as you are. Comfort her if she'll allow it, but don't force it upon her.

Re getting a second dog - if you want one, then go for it. If not, I'd wait and see how DDog gets on. She may be alright as an only dog given time. But I do know of a dog that grieved for a long time and never coped as an only dog.

In the same situation I gave it a month, but sole dog was no better. So I brought home a puppy and immediately was normal (albeit grumpy about the puppy). Sorry - you need another dog.

So sorry for your loss. When one of our DDogs lost their companion they were completely lost . We brought a puppy to keep her company but she never took to him and never seemed to recover from losing her friend.

Recently we lost one of our 3 dogs the other two didn’t seem to care, equally took to the new puppy with no problems.

I think it depends on the individual dog like humans they seem to greave in there own way .
