Not going to tag everyone as I don't know who wants to join. Welcome everyone. 😁

I have had two roofers here this morning. After the initial barking at heads appearing over the ridge, the dogs have been so good. They've sat in the garden and watched them working. Greeted them every time they came into the garden and didn't once try to bolt out of the gate. I heard one of the men telling them to 'stay' as he struggled through the gate with a bucket full of water, and then telling them they were 'good dogs'.
They've just finished and as they were leaving one commented on how calm my dogs are and not like 'normal spaniels'. See. Not all working cockers are 'high on crack' and 'manic'. 😇😇😇

Beautiful weather here today. 🌞 I unexpectedly got my car back yesterday. 🥳
Off to the woods to walk the adolescent nutter until she collapses in a heap. 😂

@CoubousAndTourmaIet He's very photogenic and you're right, he definitely has a 'baby-face'. I feel like Twatdog is just the perfect name for him - he's such a muppet he has turned me prematurely grey!! It's a lot politer than the names DH came up with...

We're doing so well with the dog photos the day or so! Vinny and Bill are both looking handsome as ever❤

I'm sorry Bill is still not feeling 100% @Bupster! He looks quite happy in that photo and has quite the glint in his eye 😀Will keep my fingers crossed you're not woken up in the early hours by him. I've never asked, but the talk of dog grooming recently (particularly spaniels) has got me thinking - does Bill shed?

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 14/11/2025 19:11

Wow! That is uncanny @YorkshireFelix 😨 What a handsome boy Vinny is.

Oh noooo @Bupster - poor Bill 😧and poor you, facing a disturbed night in such horrendous weather. I hope he makes a speedy recovery.

YorkshireFelix · 14/11/2025 19:16

Oh nooo @Bupster. V doesn’t like to poo in the rain either. Even if the ground is a bit wet he tries to avoid it! The other day I had to walk him 3 times in the afternoon to try and get him to go. And he kept bloody pawing at me in between because he needed the toilet, like it was my fault! Hopefully he blesses you with a very quick dash in the rain and does his business straight away.

He does, but nothing like a full Lab, let alone a GR or @CoubousAndTourmaIet' explosion in a fur factory. My sister has a half a husky and she probably gets a new dog out of him every month - I reckon I get a hamster in a week at the height of his shed.

He's an odd one though (in so many ways) - his coat isn't like that of a Lab or any of the spaniels I know. It's very short, he is miraculously self-cleaning, and he's as soft as a kitten; it's the first thing people mention when they get to give him a fuss. As a puppy he had a stripe of coarser Lab hair down the centre of his back, but that's now all but vanished.

More unnecessary autumnal nobhead for you.

Dog is usually okay in rain, unless it’s lashing down, and windy. Then half way around, he’ll give me the ‘why are we out in this?’ look.

Yesterday’s autumnal walk.

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 14/11/2025 19:48

So many gorgeous photos today! It's wonderful.

Self-cleaning and soft is how I always imagined Bill to be @Bupster , he looks in beautiful condition and a picture of health (current tummy upset notwithstanding).

Looks like another lovely walk with your handsome boy @Silverbirchleaf , the black Labs here are all equally photogenic.

YorkshireFelix · 14/11/2025 20:01

I always think Bill look velvety 😍

@Silverbirchleaf he is gorgeous!

@Bupster that makes sense! Sounds like you got the best parts of both breeds when I come to the shedding side 😀I’m rather jealous

@YorkshireFelix V is so cute!

We just got back from a slightly later than usual walk - saw a GSD puppy with such bad dysplasia it was noticeable 20 meters away. I can’t believe anyone can breed a dog like that. And people kept stopping the owner to compliment the dogs appearance…

SpanielsGalore · 15/11/2025 09:55

Morning all.
Lovely to see all the photos of everyone's dogs. 💖 Especially the one of Twatdog, who looks extremely intelligent and dark enough to pass my colour test. 😉

@Bupster I hope you had a peaceful night and Bill's poorly tummy is feeling better. Has he always had digestive issues? The only thing my sprocker could eat was the hypoallergenic foods. I know they are shit quality and extortionately priced, but he did well on them.

Sorry you are all having bad weather. It wasn't windy at all here yesterday. -5 along the seafront, and it did start to rain towards the end of our walk, but nothing my new coat couldn't cope wih.
@TheHungryHungryLandsharks Talking of which, it depends what size you have bought and how tall DMum and DMIL are as to whether or not they would need waterproof trousers too. It appears I am on the cusp of two sizes.
XS/S = 135 - 152 cm
S/M = 152 - 167 cm.
According to the nurse the other week, I have shrunk to 152.8 cm. So one is a cm or two too shirt and the other would be down to my ankles.
I think @brushingboots said she was 5' 7". How do you find the sizing and length @brushingboots ?

Morning All
I hope Bill is doing okay and that @Bupster wasn't hanging about outside at all hours.
Weather has been horrendous here, we have some lost tiles including one of the big ridge tiles from our porch so will need to phone a roofer. Also a bit of tree damage at the front but we can deal with that ourselves. Others have fared much worse.
Hanging on for now to see if the rain lets up before we venture out. No Dryrobe here, so it'll be a Seasalt day. Wet legs always because wellies don't give me enough traction, so I wear hiking boots. I still haven't found a suitable pair of waterproof trousers.

Bupster · 15/11/2025 11:10

He had a lovely night thank God, and poo was much better. He's a bit farty this morning but I'll take this as a work in progress. Two hours on the Common and the golf course first thing - wabbit hunting on the latter which is always hilarious. Now absolutely full of beans and mischief, just as I like it 😍

Book update for @VanGoSunflowers and @TheHungryHungryLandsharks
Finishing up book 3 of The Nightshade Crown trilogy (Hannah Whitten) and would not recommend. Definitely not one for a 13 year old anyway THHL, there's a little too much dominance and pain to the "spice" IYKWIM 😒 Plus the whole gods theme was kind of repetitive by book 3 anyway. I was speed reading for the last 200 pages.

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 15/11/2025 11:22

So glad to hear Bill is back to normal this morning @Bupster
He's such a special boy ❤
Seriously try lamb for the fartiness, it'll help x

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 15/11/2025 11:22

@SpanielsGalore they're both about 165cm and I got a S/M so should be fine! I feel like anyone who calls Twatdog intelligent looking is possibly coming down with a nasty cold because no one could be that confused otherwise 😀

@Bupster glad he had a better night and I hope that meant you were able to get some sleep as well- disjointed sleep is horrible! Does he ever manage to get into the rabbit warrens? I imagine he's possibly that bit too big? Satan can get down the bigger ones, but she gets stuck.

@CoubousAndTourmaIet thanks for the warning! Definitely do not want to be giving DD spicy books to read...and perhaps not one for me either if it's a bit samey samey.

I've regressed to my inner child today. Both DDs are at swimming training and I'm sat in the spectators gallery at the pool reading Harry Potter, with a iced coffee (because its sodding hot poolside) and a pain au chocolat. I'd forgotten about Harry living in the cupboard and I feel like that was slightly overlooked by most readers at the time!

SpanielsGalore · 15/11/2025 11:32

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks The fact I think TD looks intelligent tells you how thick NDN's GR looked.

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 15/11/2025 11:41

@SpanielsGalore Oh dear...it must have been a rather unfortunate thing to look so dim it makes Twatdog look smart 😂

I feel like every time I'm mean about him, he knows it. I just had this shiver pass over me and I am sure that he's glaring at a photo of me or possibly putting little pins into a voodoo doll.

tizwozliz · 15/11/2025 11:56

I'm feeling smug as it's not even midday yet and I've swim 2.5km and walked 5km.

Little pup was pleased with her find - it's a removable bobble from a hat. I wonder if it's actually real fur, I'm sure I read something about things coming from China having real fur instead of fake.

Pups have had lunch and are now chewing on bits of dead animal. I'm contemplating a snooze on the sofa.

@CoubousAndTourmaIet would you believe it's the one thing he now won't touch. He spat out lamb paté the other week. He's a horror.

Bupster · 15/11/2025 12:33

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks He gets about this far down. Then I tend to hoik him out as I don't really want to find out where he gets stuck!

Wow well done @tizwozliz! I didn’t get out of bed until 11am, I was sooooooo tired 😳 She looks very pleased with her treasure!

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 15/11/2025 12:55

@tizwozliz I know you say it's all luck to your photos and you have lots of duds, but honestly your photos of your girls are fantastic - you capture their happiness and joy so well.

@Bupster Even not being able to see Bill's head, I feel like his tails position gives away enough of the joy he's feeling that the photo makes me so happy 😀

Satan gets in far enough usually we can just see the tip of her tail sticking out, and then she yaps. She's intelligent enough that she doesn't try and push past the narrow point and instead waits for be rescued.

Twatdog and the girls aren't allowed to chase rabbits as my first girl did it and she collapsed (literally passed out). She woke up about 5 minutes later but I vowed never to let my Goldies chase rabbits again - their hearts are prone to issues anyway, so best not to chance it. I get my kicks letting Satan live her best life whilst my lot stand there looking sad

😮Shocked. Oh well, just shows they're all different. Brie won't look at anything remotely fishy.
Glad his tummy is better anyway x

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 15/11/2025 13:21

Our walk was uneventful, it was surprisingly quiet.
Loving all the photos.
Here's one showing a squishy faced, bedtime cuddle mode Brie. I won't ask if she looks intelligent 😂

More lovely photos. Not sure Dog has ever seen a rabbit, although we do have some large badger sett holes around, and we came across a badger on one evening walk. Came home and immediately googled whether badgers attack dogs (If I recall, they don’t but I may be wrong).
