Good quality dry food for Maltese

I’m getting a Maltese puppy soon and I’m trying to plan ahead with food. I’d really like to find a good quality grain-free dry food that’s suitable for a small breed puppy, ideally something I can pick up from Pets at Home rather than having to order online.

You are likely to find good quality and dry food don’t go together. But if you are adamant, go for the highest protein content that you can. Shockingly, a lot of the branded ones are only around 20-30% protein and your Dog should be having a minimum of 50%. The Wainwrights own brand from Pets at home is less awful than most, but still not good.

The breeder should advise including any transition to a different food.
This is a good comparison site

The breeder has recommended these 2 dry foods -

Whatever food you choose, go for a puppy lifestage one. Their dietary needs are very different to adults. Hills Science Plan puppy is excellent quality and sold at PAH (but I don't think it's grain free.)

I’m afraid I have to disagree. Hills is high in carbs and low in protein. Calling it science food doesn’t make it any less crap https://www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/dog-food-reviews/0129/hills-science-plan-adult-1-6-medium

Orijen Small Breed Puppy is probably the best option in Pets at Home, but it is quite pricey. If they don't stock it, they'll order it in to store for free.
Wainwright's Puppy would possibly be the next best one and it's more reasonably priced.

Of the two your breeder recommended, the MyPetSays is better, but I would buy the puppy version and not the adult one in your link.

Harrington's Superfood Grain free Puppy is slightly better than Wainwright's and available in some Tescos if you shop there. Must be the superfood version though. The normal range is not as good as Wainwrjghts.
