Washable bed that doesn’t crumble

Our gorgeous girl (golden retriever) was born with incontinence. She’s well managed now and usually doesn’t leak, but occasionally does, so we need a bed that’s very washable, but comfy as she has hip dysplasia.

We put out vet bedding around the house to keep her cosy, as it wicks away any leaks, but it goes flat within a few washes.

we’ve tried various washable beds for her but they all go wafer thin or clumpy after a few washes, and I’m just hoping someone can come up with a better idea for us!

I have always used a single quilt, folded over double. I buy covers from the charity shop for £2 or £3. Would that work?

We have some bedsure ones (from Amazon) that are memory foam with a waterproof cover then a washable cover over the top.

M old girl was incontinent most of her life and I used to use a good waterproof cot mattress then cover with sheets which can be washed daily.

My arthritic girl liked her hiK9 raised bed with some vet bed on top but she didn't have an issue with stepping up. Tuffies also do wipe clean cover option for their beds as the standard type while waterproof will take time to dry off.

If you need cheaper there's these Foam mats that are covered in this tough wipe clean material that's used on police cell beds. The company also has factory making human specialised mattresses so if you wanted one that was more for pressure points they maybe able to custom make one. It has a leathery texture so the dog was ok but put some of that rubber rug mesh under the pee mats so they wouldn't slide off, the vet bed was rubber backed so that was ok.

Best if you layer these human washable bed mats under the fluffy vet bed to absorb the pee as waterproof beds won't absorb rather puddle it on top.

flat memory foam bed with a waterproof cover and then fix thick elastic to your vet bed to put it around the memory foam. You would only need to wash the vet bed and it wouldn’t matter if it went flat.
I have just done this with a post surgery dog and a leaking leg.

Second the Hi K9 beds.

If you get the cosy topper on them you can pop an incontinence mat between the topper to stop any leaks and the top of the bed stays dry. Really easy to wash. Like vet bed but if you give both a quick brush they will stand up and look like new.

My arthritic older will always choose the HiK9 over any other bed including the very expensive memory foam!

Not a bad idea. DC quilt is at the end of its life so dog could have that

Could you get a comfy memory foam bed, cover it with a waterproof sheet and put vet bed on top as easy to wash?

We have one of those plastic beds, lined with an assortment of fleece blankets which can easily be washed. We also have an old duvet on the floor in the bedroom (and still he chooses to sleep on the sofa cushions 🙄)
