My boxer dog has been quite unwell recently. Overnight she has gone from a bouncy 4 year old crazy dog to one who can’t walk further than the end of the drive without being out of breath. The vet suspects the heart condition DCM an enlarged heart. She has a heart scan tomorrow to confirm. I am wondering if anyone has been in the same position and if so if medication was prescribed?

Hello thank you for replying. Unfortunately we had to let her go. She had DCM along with heart failure on both sides, fluid in the abdomen and lungs. The prognosis was 6-12 months taking 5 types of medication daily, but she would die of a heart attack within that time. I didn’t want her to potentially die all alone and with a low quality of life. Very sad

I am so sorry to hear this. You must be devastated. The right decision for your dog but so hard for you. Look after yourself
