Hi all , my dog now has to be on a low fat diet . Could anyone please recommend a kibble suitable for a dog who’s had an episode of pancreatitis.

My dog has royal canin Gastrointestinal Low Fat Dry Dog Food - best price is from animed. Not had any attacks since being on it

I would second that re Royal Canine low fat. May need to taste it up a bit with suitable additions eg bit of fish cooked in water and served as a sort of soup. Also Lypex and Fortiflora were game changers - not cheap (buy online) but this combo I truly believe saved my very pancreatitis-prone dog. Never had another attack having been at death’s door more than once. Horrible condition.

My dog has hills science diet food sensitivities z/d kibble. He keeps well on it and loves it. He has it spread over three meals with a bit of boiling water added to his evening meal so the kibble goes slightly mushy and the boiling water acts as a gravy when I mix it. When the water has cooled he eats it and he absolutely loves it. We use the same kibble for treats. Our vet said it must be the only thing he eats to protect him from pancreatitis. It works, in his last pancreatitis attack he nearly died, our vet saved him.

My two dogs were really ill with it, both terribly so at times. I changed their diet as advised to Royal Canine and they still were often ill. In the end I spoke to Tails dogfood and got my kibble from them, my vet couldn’t believe the difference. Over time I could give them boiled chicken, boiled 5% beef mince, boiled white fish, sweet potato etc as treats to give them some variety.
