Booked to travel to Ireland with dog in 2 wks - no rabies vaccination

I am such a moron. Booked to go by ferry in two weeks to Ireland with dog for the first time. Have just heard that he needs rabies vaccine 21 days before AHC can be issued for travel. We can’t change dates. Had not explored before and naively assumed he had a rabies vaccine as he was up to date with all vaccines / boosters… Kids will be so disappointed. We were so looking forward to taking him to beaches etc. Just posting in the vain hope there is some emergency work around..??

FYI You don't need a rabies vaccine to travel to Northern Ireland.

In theory we could travel to NI and stay with friends there and then travel south. Would we have to come back via Belfast though?? Not until late August. It’s a bit of a marathon journey… as we are SW Ireland!

I’ve travelled Holyhead Dublin about 8 times with my dog , only had to show papers once - cursory glance . But they occasionally check. Go in via Belfast and drive down and there are no checks . Returning any route no checks
