Why does he do this?

I've got a 9month old pup. Potty training was relatively easy, up until a month ago very rare accidents inside and the ones that occured were my fault for not being quick enough with the signs.

The last month or so there have been a few wees inside, mostly I put down to me being too relaxed and not watching him enough but this morning we got up, I let him straight out for a wee, he barked to come back in and he went straight into the other room and had a wee. He's done it a couple of times now and I'm just trying to understand the behaviour. It's not always easy to tell if he's been outside before I let him in as I've got a wrap around garden and he pees all over.

Go out with him to make sure he does his business, heaps of praise. Seems like you relaxed your routine too early. Does he get good walks? One wee won’t empty his bladder.

You might need to go out with him and not let him back in till he pees, i have a cue word for my dog.so he pees .before he comes in.

Your dog is entering his teen years their brain goea to actual mush so you have to keep re inforcing training with lots of praise and "good boys"

He might also be marking in the house.

You need to start going outside with him again and make sure he’s actually going to the toilet rather than just sniffing or messing about.

He does get good walks, a decent morning walk and one later in the day. This is just his wake up wee.

Yes, you're all correct I should probably go out and make sure he's going. We were just in a nice routine of him going out while I get the coffee/breakfast started but I'll delay that to supervise. @Coffeeishot I don't think he's marking, it's a proper puddle he did this morning.

He is maybe just looking for reassurance in the morning.
