Cool Mats

Hi, we have a 3 yr old black lab who really struggles in the heat - obviously being black doesn’t help! He loves his cool mat but the only problem is we are going through so many. Somehow he ends up putting small splits in them and the gel then oozes out. Has anyone any tips how to fix it? Putting tape on doesn’t work. Or is there something out there better?

Not sure if it's better, but I have a fabric cool mat that's made of silky, cool to the touch fabric. Madame is quite happy to use it, so presume it does something. This one came from Ebay, but they seem to be available in other places too.

We got one of these free when we bought a bed once. Seems quite effective

More expensive than a cool mat but ours is a couple of years old now and still looks fine.

We have several of the fabric ones that I think came from Amazon. They are very good in fact in recent heatwaves I have caught my kids sleeping on them in their beds to help them stay cool

Thanks @Timemyluckchanged Definitely going to check out the fabric ones. I’ve stuck tape on the cool mat for now but it doesn’t stay on it!

Could you make a cover for the gel one, just out of a thin sheet ( not sure what your sewing skills are like 😬)
