I’ve messed up big time with kennel booking

We are going on holiday next week and I’ve massively messed up my dogs kennel booking.

I just checked and I’ve booked him in on the day we depart and pick up the day we get back. Due to flights I need to get him there a day early and pick up a day later.

I’ve massively messed up and they are a very popular, busy kennel.

I’ve emailed in desperation but in the meantime I need a contingency plan just in case. I’ve no one to drop him or pick him up for me as our families are miles away. He’s also a bit aggressive, but loves the kennel, so wouldn’t really want anyone to handle him anyway.

What the hell can I do if there’s no room?

Any chance of changing your flights and joining your family later?

Go on your local Facebook page and put up a ‘Wanted, dog sitter needed or home boarder needed’ post and see if anyone responds.

I think this might have to happen 😢

Hopefully you can rearrange your flights OP - it sucks but probably the safest option for the dog and at least you still get your holiday!

Well I couldn't sleep last night and got up at 6am and did loads of chores waiting for a response from the kennel. At 10am after checking messages every 10 minutes, I found a reply in my junk email from 7am saying they could accommodate my dog and extra days.

So, trip of a life time back on.

Honestly I was mega stressed out.

Phew! What good news.

Oh my word, you must have had such a stressful night! I messed up our booking once with our regular kennels and I have no idea how but they made it work so they could keep my dogs an extra day. I think if you're a regular, they'll move heaven and earth to help you out.
It's so easily done, you have your holiday dates in your mind and that's when you go and come back.

My husband is in charge of all dog sitter bookings. We have quite a few in the next few months for various reasons, but he forgot one the other day. He nearly missed a concert because of it, but thankfully a lovely neighbour who has just started dog sitting helped us out. It’s such an awful feeling when you’re stuck!

I use a cattery and find if you book the main bit in then it’s easy to tweak the start and end if needed especially by a day as they have holding and/or isolation pens quite often.
