Settling dog in to new kennels. Advice?

We are moving home and Ddog needs to be boarded at new kennels when we need dog care. I’ve found one who have great reviews and word of mouth. I’ve met the owners and DDog has met them.

It’s soon time to start settling in and I’m not sure if I’m overthinking things. I want DDog to be dropped off in the morning and collected the same evening so she spends a whole day getting used to the new rooms and smells before staying overnight.

A few days later, I’d then take her back and leave her for one afternoon and in to the night with an early collection in the morning. Then a day after that, leave her for a full 24hours.

DH thinks we should just drop her off and collect the next day and that they’ll call us if there are any issues.

She’s been away from home before fairly regularly at the old place we used for boarding, but this place will all be new to her. I’d hate to spook her by throwing her in at the deep end in a new place.

Which way is best?

(Please no suggestions for home boarding, it’s not a suitable option for us).

I'm with your approach. It's what we’re currently doing to settle our dog in with a new dog boarder.

I'd go even slower and only leave her for a couple of hours the first time, building up to a full day and then an overnight. But you might not have time to do that.
And to be fair, if your dog is used to being kennelled she may settle quicker than my dogs would.

That's what we have done with each of our dogs and it's worked perfectly.
