Dog woke up damp

I’ve just went to let my dog out and she was lying in her bed as usual but she was damp. Top of head, ears, paws and underbody she’s perfectly fine within herself but I’ve never seen this before so I’m concerned. Will it just be sweat?

She’s 10 and a small dog. She’s currently cut shortish so not needing a groom.

Dogs don’t sweat. Are you sure she’s not been in her water bowl to cool off?

My husband suggested that but it’s the top of her head and all down her tummy, it’s possible but no drips left on my floor.

I’ll have to dig out her cool mat. She’s ignored it previously but maybe now she’d like it.

Is her bed wet? The other option is that she's wee'd herself and rolled in it, or it could be drool (unlikely, though, if she's not showing other symptoms).

Dogs only sweat through their paw pads, so it can't be that.

Can't be dog sweat, as PP said they only sweat through their paws and tongue. Could anything have spilt on her? Have you only got one dog?

Yes one dog only. Her bed was slightly damp but didn’t stink of pee. It can only be her water bowl but I’d like to know how she got her head, ears, full underbelly and all paws damp without spilling a drop on the floor. It was more like she’d been outside in drizzle. So bizarre. I’m interested to see what tomorrow brings.

This is so weird, my dog was like this today, soaking underneath him when I lifted him onto the bed I thought he’s just been cleaning himself but when I lifted him off the bed an hour later there was a huge soaking wet circle on the bed. He hadn’t been cleaning or anything though & if didn’t smell of urine.
