Tracking devices?

Anyone have experience of a reliable tracker that isn’t based on mobile phone signals? Something a bit more reliable. Trying to decipher how they work is quite hard from websites. We tried PitPat but that didn’t work in our local park. Too far away from mobile phone signals apparently.

I use tractive . Have done for years . It's been reliable for me

Second Tractive. Use for my 2 cats and my puppy. Always able to track them despite living pretty rurally.

Yes we use Tractive for the escapologist dog. It’s been really good when we’ve had to track him down.

TheMeasure · 11/06/2025 22:06

Another one with Tractive here. It’s a bit more expensive than others in that you buy the unit and then have to pay an annual fee (cheaper if you buy a longer contract) in order to access the GDS you need for accurate tracking.

Sonolanona · 11/06/2025 22:09

Tractive. The annual fee is worth it!

Does anyone know if you can change the Tractive device subscription between animals? This is going to sound heartless, but I have a 15.5 year old dog who still goes for 3 mile walks every day, but now sometimes gets disoriented and runs off faster than I can catch him. An accurate tracker would help me intercept him when this happens, but for obvious reasons I might not end up using it with him for very long, so it would be good to be able to move it to a different dog eventually if I get one for him. Thank you for any insight!

Well unanimous so far! Tractive is where I’ll go have a look! Thank you fellow escapologist dog owners 😁

Hi! I'm using Tractive to always know where my pet is. Use my link below to get 30% off a Tractive GPS tracker.

@TarnishedMoonstone yes you can. They transferred the three months my old girl would no longer use onto one of the other trackers for me in just that situation.
