Dog bottoms...... red sore area

Lovely topic for a Sunday evening.....
My 3 yr old terrier has developed a red patch in his bottom. He does have the habit of wondering into weeds and I assumed he has been in stinging nettles but the redness isn't going. Some times it's redder than others. It's the bum area not the skin/fur area. It's about the size of a 5p. Sometimes he appears to be scratching it. He is wormed monthly with drontal. Is there anything I could try or is it a vet job?

Is it his anal gland? My pug has issues with hers and it starts as a red patch next to her bottom hole.

My dog has just finished antibiotics and extra pain relief for an abscess in his anal glands. He's so much happier now. His anal glands fill up because he can't fully push poo out as his hind legs are arthritic, he is 14.

This red patch is actually on his bum hole not next to it.....
It's not licked it or scratched it since this morning.

Sounds like it could be an anal fissure? If so, it's a vet job for steroids, in my experience.
