Looooooong lead recommendations for beach?

Afternoon all
were taking TellmePup to the seaside in a few weeks (Cromer and cannot wait) for the first time so I’m looking for a good very long lead we can use for on the beach with him.

Cuttenrly have a Halti one which we have got on well with. Ideally something we can adjust the length on of such a thing exists (NOT retractable though).

Also, any other dog must haves for a beach holiday that didn’t know we couldn’t live without 😁 would be uber useful too!

Thanks

For context current lead is 1.8m at its longest and he’s a six month old border terrier. Won’t be off lead but want to give him lots of run room if and when space allows

I have used a biothane long line on the beach. It doesn't adjust in length, but I guess you only let out as much as you want.

If you decide on a biothane longline, look on Etsy. Lots of different colours, lengths and widths there. I do have one for my BT to use at the beach.

I didn’t think dogs were allowed in Cromer beach during the seasonal period May-September, it might be worth checking, most beaches don’t allow dogs during this period. It would be a shame it you arrived and was disappointed.

Halti do a 10m waterproof biothane lead. I thought it was going to be too heavy, but actually it's made up for by the fact it's waterproof so doesn't get heavier when wet, and also doesn't tangle up as badly. I also have a non-waterproof 5m long line from them which I really like.

I don't know of any real long lines that let you alter the length - it's a matter of looping it up over your arm. But Halti (again) do a fabulous adjustable lead (the thin one is better than the thick one, which has a bungee section that loses elasticity really easily). It's called the Anatomy Multifunctional something or other, and at its full length is 2m but somehow feels longer.

get a horse leash not a retractable one as they tangle. they exist and are very strong.

I live by a beach so I'm down there a lot with my dogs.
Tips:

  • don't attach a long lead to a head / face harness as they can cause pain
  • retractible leads can fail to hold firm when you return to the road - better to swap leads before you leave the beach
  • double check which parts of the beach dogs can use in summer
  • watch out for broken glass & sharp rubbish
  • keep an eye on what they're picking up - trying to avoid them swallowing lots of sand
  • have fun and take lots of pics!

There are restrictions but you are allowed them on the beach further out
