Dog's face severely swollen

My Jack Russell face's swelled up on Friday night one side . I thought she had been stung by a bee, yesterday morning both sides of her face were swollen . We took her to the vet who said it may be her teeth but as we were there I found a scabbed area on her cheek which revealed two puncture holes .
She had an anti inflammatory injection yesterday and is on antibiotics but the one side of her head seems more swollen today. I am starting to get concerned or maybe I am being impatient .

This happened to my dog last summer. She got an antihistamine which brought the swelling down, have they tried that?

Welshwhales · 01/06/2025 19:39

No antihistamines from the vet, she's cleaning her face now . This is what she usually looks like , thanks to everyone who gave me advice 😊

She’s lovely. So pleased she’s feeling better.

your vet is an idiot

The veterinary surgeon prescribed antibiotics which are working. You're the idiot.
Don't take advice from randoms on the internet when it comes to your dogs health OP. I'd trust the person with veterinary degree over lay people on the internet any day. Glad the vet's treatment helped your dog's symptoms.

May I suggest you check her teeth when she is feeling better. I had something very similar with my dog and it turned out she had chipped a tooth and the infection was getting in that way

Bless her, hope she’s on the mend now ❤️‍🩹
We had something similar on our dog’s head a couple of years ago, turned out to be an abscess due to a grass seed. After days of worry and vet visits he was sedated and the swelling was lanced and drained, which is when the seeds appeared. The vet left the wound open so it could continue to drain and more parts of the seed eventually appeared and were removed, then it healed up.
