Why does my 11 year old dog suddenly smell awful?

11 year old neutered bitch. Shes a staffy. Always smelled a bit like doritos but now smells incredibly strongly of bad doggy odour, musty sort of smell. Definitely not anal glands smell. Looks as though shes a bit dandruffy as well.

Have a vets appointment for tomorrow. Just wondered if anyone had experienced this, what did it turn out to be?

Yes, a yeasty smell and flaky skin turned out to probably be a food allergy. In any case, went grain free and it cleared up quite well. That was a relatively young Labrador, but the allergy seemed to just develop rather than having been always present. I think food allergies are quite difficult to pin down though. Anyway, that’s what worked for us.
