Tracker for attaching to collar .

Not had one for previous dog but seeing a lot of dogs wearing them plus all the adverts that pop up.

We have Pawfit. Not perfect but good enough for the job.

We live in London and our dog is quite good at staying close to me so I’m happy with an air tag. I wouldn’t do that if wet lived rurally due to lack of mobiles to bounce off, it mainly depends on your situation.

Tractive . I have a dog with a tendency to wander off (chasing rabbits/hare/deer) ..she's no danger as she's never caught a thing but boy does she disappear fast and we live rurally so often walk in the woods.
I have never lost signal, and if she has been gone more than a few minutes, I click live mode (rather than it updating itself) and can see every step she takes. It also has a light and sound though I don't bother with those.
My dog has been wearing a tractive tracker since she was 4 months old and saw her first deer! ..now 6..and I wouldn't be without it. I recently updated to the newst version which is USB charging (the old charger was a bit rubbish)

There is a yearly subscription but worth every penny if you have a dog who doesn't stick by your side, but if you don't go off lead or have a dog with a desire to chase things, they aren't really necessary.

She managed to dislodge it once (it's on her harness) and 3 days later we were able to find it it the middle of a huge field, despite pouring rain..still working perfectly!

Tractive. My boy has been off after deer a couple of times. And then I saw on FB how many dogs get lost. I hate it, but I’d hate myself more if he went missing and I couldn’t find him 😳

Keep your dog on a lead.

Buildingthefuture · 31/05/2025 18:03

We have a Tractive. It is really good. Her recall is actually really good but she’s a troubled soul and so we walk her in the absolute wilderness. She does run off after random scents but the Tractive shows us where she is (and she always comes back!)

Tractive… brilliant plus it does health stuff too

dogs need to be off lead to get enough exercise, some places for example near livestock, its not acceptable and dogs MUST be on the lead but most places they need to be off so they can run around and great/play with other dogs

Keep your dog on a lead.

Not on my own farm, I won’t.

tractive

Honestly can’t recommend more highly. My VERY fast and nimble dog with high prey drive bolted. The Tractive gave me live locations. I don’t think we’d have been reunited otherwise.

i have a 30% referral code if you click here but quite honestly - even if you don’t, definitely still go with Tractive!

I have a Pawfit for my high prey drive sighthound, works well and interesting to monitor his exercise. Luckily never needed it in an emergency situation, but have every confidence in it.

MuffinsAreJustCakesAtBreakfast · 10/06/2025 22:26

I think Tractive is best but their smallest model on a 8kg ish dog is still massive.

my neighbour uses pawfit on their little doxie for that reason.

Lollygaggle · 10/06/2025 22:31

Tried pawfit but despite checking on their website could not get a good enough signal near either of the two places the dog spent most of the time. This is not uncommon so I would check coverage first . They did refund money.

Now have tractive and no problems with tracking anywhere we have been. Need to set up home areas to save battery but works very well. This is a rehomed cruelty case dog that was on the streets a lot so a tracker gives us peace of mind .
