And was it worth it?
I was lucky enough to meet my dog's Mum, Grandmother and Grandfather. But no idea about Dad. I'd like to know what exactly she's made up of!

I keep getting google results about which ones are on offer etc but I'm finding it all a bit confusing to be honest!

Used wisdom panel for my rescue. The breeds seemed spot on (mongrel, but with one breed at 25% - this is the breed he looks most like) and best of all it identified a littermate who had previously been tested. His brother's breeds were listed the same.

So I think it's accurate, and a lot of fun (we will be meeting up with his brother at some point and have exchanged lots of photos - you can contact any relatives through the Wisdom interface). The other relatives it threw up were much more distant (about 3% commonality) spread all over the world - they were stud dogs of his predominant breed. In the future, another sibling (or mother/father) might come to light!

I found buying via Amazon, rather than directly on the Wisdom website, to be cheapest at the time I was buying.

Interesting that you can use the wisdom panel to communicate with siblings. Id like to do this i asked the breeder if they wanted a whats app group and she said none of the 5 owners were interested which I find very suspicious

Yes, you can message the profile of any matches (and they will get a notification from Wisdom and decide whether to message you back - no personal details are shared; it's a bit like Ancestry).

How did they know yours had a brother? Is it because they had also done a test too?

Yes, he was also tested. She matched to other relatives too but further down the line. They tell you if sibling, parent etc or just close relation or distant.

They were even able to tell me she has a red coat and all kinds of info about it's type and whether she'd shed too. Very accurate and extremely interesting!

I’m a bit obsessed with the Dog DNA Reddit subs. Embark is definitely the most accurate.

Sorry just read the wolfdog comment. It’s worth checking the wolfdog Reddit subs as IIRC you won’t get sibling matches for results with wolf percentages due to the fact they are illegal in so many places.

Thank you for the tip, I am a redditor! I will do.

Actually, my dog is French, found in France. I took her DNA swab while we were in the UK and got the results there too. Not one scrap of British dog was identified in her. All European and quite a few I’d never heard of - Estrella Mountain Dog for example.

Our current dog is also French (acquired as a puppy by previous owner - who died suddenly, hence dog coming to us). We did Wisdom test for fun - it was obviously to the eye she was a Staffy cross and we were sure she was crossed with a black Labrador - confirmed by the DNA test. What is also showed, interestingly, was that she has some Beauceron in her; she has dew claws on her back legs as well as the front and this is a trait of the Beauceron breed.

I must add that she's absolutely and completely adorable - her late 'Mum' raised her so beautifully.

Some lovely stories-I am glad I began this thread for that reason alone!
I asked on reddit, had some good advice.
