Considering a puppy. After finding a breeder i asked about health tests if mum and was told she jad them all but the mum passed away due to an infection in her womb. The cynic in me thinks potential puppy farm and a great excuse to not show the mum.
Am I paranoid. Is death common post birth. Pups are arpumd 8 weeks old. I'm not sure how long ago the mum died.

If the bitch died, the owner would still have the health tests.

So no, you are not paranoid.

I think it shows an inexperienced breeder at best

And a total lack of care for the mum at worst

If you have even the slightest doubt I would steer clear. How did you find the breeder? Are they kennel club registered?
Even seeing the “mum” doesn’t mean a lot as criminals can go to all sorts of lengths to make it seem legit by showing you an unrelated dog as the mum.
Listen to your gut and don’t give your money to anyone who may be in the puppy farming business.

Walk away.

I asked to see a video of them together before she died and she didn't have any..makes me more suspicious.
I'll leave it thanks

Never buy any puppy without seeing the mother. It’s a common excuse used by puppy farms.

As someone else has said, health test results should still be available and are still relevant. If she is KC reg it’s easy to look them up if you ask or have been given her registered name. If you’d like me to do that for you (the KC website isn’t the easiest to find things) then I’m happy to.

Run.
Contact the breed club for details of decent breeders.

superplumb · 22/04/2025 20:08

Thanks all. I've walked away. I think ill continue to look at rescues and keep an eye in champ dogs.
