Teenage DS took the dog out for a walk late tonight and came home saying he seemed to be struggling to go to the loo - nothing came out and he had been scooting his bum on the grass. Immediately grabbed some baby wipes as I imagined a bit of a mess on his fur, but soon realised it was a warm soapy water and rubber gloves job 🤢

He’d managed to mash an entire, very solid poop all over his back end and on the underside of his tail. Very, very compressed and baby wipes weren’t going to touch it. I suspect he’s managed to swallow one of mine or Ds’s long hairs again (this has happened before, but I’ve noticed he’s got a clinger-on before he starts scooting. Ds not so observant, plus it was dark) and attempted to scoot it off, but bloody hell, I’ve had a right clean up job on my hands 🤣

He’s a bit longer haired than normal at the minute, as he’s being groomed on Wednesday, but I don’t let him get too long as he’s harder to keep clean overall.

So anyone thinking they might struggle picking up poo when looking to get a dog - be warned, it gets far, far worse than picking it up in a bag! Luckily, I’m not too bothered about it, but it wasn’t what I had planned at 10.30 at night!

🤣I have very fond childhood memories of my mum hosing my Hungarian puli's backside after a similar incident!

No, dog ownership is far from glamorous! Mine was ill once and I spent every couple of days cleaning up diarrhoea from every bit of my house. A previous dog once drank seawater and may as well have had an aerosol can up his ass for how poo came out as a subsequent result of that!

I still fondly remember the poor people that passed by as I was pulling a small stick out of my dog's arse 😂

Dogs are disgusting sometimes. I have so many similar poo/ bath stories. But they're so cute at the same time.

Yep, we had an explosive diarrhoea incident when he was a pup where he managed to get it about 2 foot up the conservatory blinds. That was delightful to clean up!

My old dog are a pair of tights that only came out by standing on the wnd as he pooped and then walked off as the tights got longer and longer. Took him to vet after as was worried but he was fine as anything. He was a stupid dog.

The worst one I’ve ever had to deal with was a previous dog rolling on a dead, decomposed seal on the beach once. That smell will stay with me forever I think!

This happened to my mum and her red setter in the 70s and she still goes on about it 🤣but not tights, rather a long strip of material that she'd cut off the bottom of a swingy skirt (she was a seamstress as a hobby)! She said in the middle of a busy park she had to stand on one end and make him walk away. Loads of folk gawping as this supposedly never-ending strip of skirt slowly was slept out of his bum. I'm clamping my bum shut as I type this.

I agree, dogs are gross. Amazing and I'd not be without mine at all, but gross. 🤣
