Pulling to chase leaves in the wind

Our one year old cavapoo sometimes walks beautifully on the lead. However at other times he pulls a lot. He usually pulls if he picks up a scent but the main problem is ff it is windy he wants to chase every single leaf blowing down the road/pavement and darts all over the place trying to reach them. Walks when it is windy are a total different experience to walks on a calm day. It's really difficult to try and get him to calm down and be interested in us or food on those days and we are at a bit of a loss at how to train him in this situation. Has anyone had this with their dog? Will he grow out of it? Any suggestions for how to get past this? I'll add that his tummy seems quite sensitive so we are restricted to kibble for training which probably doesn't help. Although when we have tried sausage he still is more interested in the leaves.

If he likes to chase what about a soft tug toy like tug-e- nuff to distract and get him to engage with you

My beagle is seven and a right pain in the bum when it’s windy - I’ve just accepted it and make sure to use a short lead or to take him somewhere where it doesn’t matter if he darts all over the place!
