Does anyone else's dog go mental after you've had surgery?

I had surgery on my back Friday, since I've been home the dog has gone absolutely mental, barking, pawing at me and trying to pull the bandage off. I went for a bandage change today, again same reaction - barking and pawing at me. I assume it's the smell? She's never reacted like this towards me. Pic of said mad dog

She probably wants to sniff the wound to check you’re ok. Bless her!

Sort of. One of my labradors stuck his nose into my backside and sniffed deeply when I came home from gynae surgery this week. Assume it was the orange disinfectant they rubbed all over me.
