LennyBalls · 22/02/2025 08:35

14 month old cockapoo fully toilet trained has started weeing in the house again every night.
No change of routine etc. plenty of exercise / stimulation.
Help what can I do ?

Male dog by any chance? Now is around the time their testosterone kicks in. Or if your dog is a bitch, being spayed can cause issues with holding wee in.

Could also be nerves/ stress - again that can sometimes happen at this age. Any changes to family circumstances?

What gender? If male, it's not the testosterone, it kicked in the moment your dog started to lift his leg while weeing. If female, she could be going into her first heat. Could be puberty induced anxiety, does the dog whine a lot?
Is this only at night? Are they left alone at night?

The only thing you can do is backtrack their training. Do what you did when they were a puppy (take them out if they wake up at night, let them have a quick wee, praise them a lot, go directly back in and back to sleep). It will fix itself.

Edited to add: have them checked by a vet just in case, could be a bladder infection.

Vet check

Thanks for the replies. She is a bitch. She was spayed back in September.

No change to family life at all. She is not left alone at night. Can't really think of anything.

Then you definitely need to have her checked by a vet.

Sorry posted too soon

Can't think of any other changes. We did send her to doggy day care for half a day on Thursday but the weeing started about a week before this.

I'd double check it's not a uti or physical problem.

Does she get a late evening walk? My dog needs a walk 8-9pm otherwise wakes us up needing a wee/poo overnight.
