What could I get you to say thank you, if anything. Perhaps I should just get a card?

I want to say thank you for letting my boy, my beautiful, brave, loving Lab go so peacefully.
It wasn’t booked in, I couldn’t face that. I struggled to let him go. You took time out, a break possibly or clinical time.

The surgery is not independent, so not sure if you’d even be allowed to keep a gift? I don’t know anything about the vet in question either so would need to be fairly generic I guess.

TIA and apologies if I don’t come back to the thread tonight.

I can't answer this but as a Labrador mum I'm sending you the biggest hug tonight.

Firstly, Op, I just wanted to say how sorry I am for the loss of your beautiful boy. He sounds like a wonderful, loyal companion. 💔

To answer your question; a card is more than enough. I have been a vet for well over a decade now, and I have kept every single one I’ve ever been given. They are in a box in my room.

I hope you are looking after yourself 💐

My practice has done this for my previous two Labs. I asked a nurse what the vet liked to drink. Gave him a bottle of red wine and a large box of biscuits for his amazing team, plus a card. Thinking of you.

Thank you all for your kindness and suggestions. He was the most amazing dog, I used to take him in to nursing homes and hospitals (he wasn’t a trained therapy dog, the hospital consultant just asked me to bring him in to lift the patients spirits).

I’ll never forget him.

I am very sorry for your loss, it's so painful, giving you virtual hugs

My one was in intensive care in a big vet hospital for 8 nights and an absolutely gem of a vet saved his life. I called them up and asked where I could send my thank yous and they gave me a generic email and forwarded it on to the individual vet. She then replied to me. You could try that way

When I had to have my boy unexpectedly leave this world, I sent a card and took a variety of cakes and doughnuts for the staff as we had seen quite a lot of them and sobbed all over the receptionists as Ii had a family member work in a practice previously and the staff always appreciated something nice to go with their afternoon tea. I am very sorry for your loss ❤️
