We are thinking of travelling to France for a holiday in June. We want a quiet but lovely area, also suitable for dog walks. Has anyone taken their dog on holiday?Any tips and suggestions for great areas to stay?? Thank you

There are lots of parts of France that are suitable for taking a dog - France is even more dog-friendly than the UK. I am in France at the moment (with my dog), in Annecy. It’s stunning countryside around here, the lake here is huge and the mountains are beautiful at all times of year, currently snow-capped! Dogs are welcome in many shops and people really make a fuss of them in all sorts of places.

I’ve also taken my dog to the Bordeaux area, which is easier to get to and also stunning.

I don’t think I’d rule anywhere out in France to be honest, The French really love their dogs!

Brittany love beach walks, woodland walks. Would be my choice in June. Any month apart from June I would also consider Normandy, but June is crazy there.

All of France! We have a holiday home near Bordeaux, dogs everywhere

If you are planning to go to a seaside area with a dog, check whether dogs are allowed on the beaches in high season. The area go Brittany we like (near but not in Carnac) has banned dogs from all beaches in the summer.

We are also thinking of taking our dog on a trip with our son next summer - did you end up going on this trip? Worried about beach restrictions all over France with dogs. Thanks!
