Hello my fabulous Podsquad, here is Podcast Thread III.

For anyone that is new to this thread, it's about my rescue dog, known as Pod.

Here is thread No. 2 https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_doghouse/5197068-the-pod-cast?page=39&reply=141216881

And thread No 1 https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_doghouse/5177112-oh-my-giddy-god?page=1

for if anyone would like to go back and see how astonishingly naïve and traumatised I was by taking on a fully grown, teenaged pointy dog who seemed determined to destroy me and everything I love.

Theatrics over, here is the Pod in question (obviously I've edited the lead out - I'm not mental).

If anyone doesn't have is Insta handle and wants it, just DM me. A video of me and Pod doing yoga together will appear at some point soon.

Ignore the annoying doom mongers saying it won't help, some people love nothing more than pissing on other people's chips 😬

Surely less hormones tormenting the poor boy can only be helpful 🙂

If anyone would like to start their day with some dinosaur noises, there's a reel about that.

Love the dinosaur noises! He's so expressive.

LadyGrillingSole · 23/01/2025 10:00

He's such a vocal hound, it's lovely when they "talk" to you 😍

OldSpeclkledHen · 23/01/2025 11:47

Oh dammit.. I've created an Insta account (supposed to be wfh)- could I please see POD in action?

Thank you 🙂

2025willbemytime · 23/01/2025 17:11

I feel like I'm cheating on my dog as I love seeing Pod's videos.

HangingOver · 23/01/2025 22:55

This Pod has my entire heart

He's got a bit of mine too somehow! He's a bit special isn't he :)

LadyGrillingSole · 24/01/2025 06:23

I have an image in my mind of all the Podsquad's dogs having a meeting, huddled together and complaining about their unfaithful families fawning over your lovely Pod 😂

FeralWoman · 24/01/2025 08:18

I think he’s got a bit of everyone’s heart for everyone in this thread.

Is that the tiny prawn pose?

He’s gorgeous. His dinosaur noises video was very cute. His teeth were so beautifully white and pointy when he yawned. His tail is magnificent, even if it does taunt him and require attempts to catch it.

That's a medium prawn, when he's chilly and its rainy outside he can curl up even smaller into micro prawn size 😅

Excellent Friday evening meeting of the PodSquad. All four Pods, including baby pod, tore around the enclosed wood at top speed for a full hour. Am hopeful for a quiet evening but you never know 😬

Lads I'm fretting a bit about Pod's knackers.

What should I expect when I collect him on Monday? Does anyone know how long they keep them afterwards? Should I give him plain supper? I don't know how he will sleep with his horrid cone, poor love. 😔

OP posts:
Ebananascroogey · 25/01/2025 18:19

So our boy (not a pod mind) had one of these rather than a traditional cone & it made a massive difference to how accepting of it he was, so much so when he had healed he cried when we took it off as he'd become quote attached to his personal pillow 🤣

2025willbemytime · 25/01/2025 18:21

When my dog was spayed I got her a jumper to wear. It fastened with poppers and kept her wound covered. When we went out I fastened it a different way so she could still go to the loo and she wasn't interested in the wound as was walking. No way was she having the cone of shame.

HangingOver · 25/01/2025 18:31

So I wondered about the doughnuts but he is SO flexible from side to side that I think he'd be able to reach it.

OP posts:
Letsnotargue · 25/01/2025 18:33

I’ve never managed to get a plastic cone to stay on a greyhound as their necks are too long and the cone slides up
and down and freaks them out. Our current one had an inflatable collar and wasn’t bothered at all.

Generally they keep them until they’re awake and maybe eaten a bit. Mine have always been dopey and a bit wonky on their legs, but fine. The advice has been ‘they may want to eat a bit but may not’, and they have without fail come home and demanded recompense for their missed breakfast.

Fingers crossed for Pod on Monday, he will be fine 👍

WiddlinDiddlin · 25/01/2025 18:35

Expect a sad little prawn, possibly moping about, whinging/whining, sleepy, maybe pukey or may not want to eat...

He might be a bit stoned, might not, he may appear absolutely fine - some dogs go very pathetic and cry a lot after the anaesthetic, it is usually the anaesthetic wearing off rather than pain but do make sure he has pain killers, some vets seem rather shy of giving painkillers! We know Pod + Pain = Twatdog.

He should recover pretty fast once the anaesthetic is out of his system though so expect a return to normal around 24/36 hours post op.

They send them home when they are sure they're awake enough and Ok... some wills tay a bit longer, noiseybois get booted out faster...

Expect vile VILE farts and shits after anaesthetic.

Experiment with pants/something that covers that part, I would avoid coning unless absolutely fucking vital because i find it really really upsets most dogs (fucks with their spatial awareness), also the damage a big dog can do to your shins and calves with a cone on is spectacular.

He may well leave it be, I don't mind them having a quick check and a brief lick, as long as its not a concerted effort to unstitch themselves or over wash, I think 'seeing what the fuck happened' is fair do's really!

Ellmau · 25/01/2025 18:48

Expect a sad little prawn

Sorry, but that made me laugh.

I hope he's not too much of a pain, OP.
