Hello my fabulous Podsquad, here is Podcast Thread III.

For anyone that is new to this thread, it's about my rescue dog, known as Pod.

Here is thread No. 2 https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_doghouse/5197068-the-pod-cast?page=39&reply=141216881

And thread No 1 https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_doghouse/5177112-oh-my-giddy-god?page=1

for if anyone would like to go back and see how astonishingly naïve and traumatised I was by taking on a fully grown, teenaged pointy dog who seemed determined to destroy me and everything I love.

Theatrics over, here is the Pod in question (obviously I've edited the lead out - I'm not mental).

If anyone doesn't have is Insta handle and wants it, just DM me. A video of me and Pod doing yoga together will appear at some point soon.

Glad he's brightened up and had some food.

LadyGrillingSole · 27/01/2025 22:06

He's glad to be home with his family, fed, comfy and loved 😊

HangingOver · 27/01/2025 22:13

I've managed to sneak the blanket back into the living room and have camped on the sofa, Pod on his little bed beside me, so I can hear if there's any distress in the night. DP taking over at 2. Fingers crossed for a quiet night. I loves you all and so does Pod.

Here's hoping for a quiet and peaceful night for the three of you, Hanging 🙏Goodnight 💤🐏🍤

2025willbemytime · 27/01/2025 22:40

I'm in bed with one cat and one dog and I'm hoping for some sleep - mine had me up at 2.45am - but I'll sacrifice it for Pod to sleep peacefully all night. Good boy Pod.

HangingOver · 27/01/2025 22:51

Hum. Suit is destroyed. I put the cone back on him but he went MENTAL. There's a new suit the proper size coming tomorrow in the post but not sure what to do now.

OP posts:
HangingOver · 27/01/2025 22:58

Also, he can actually reach the injury site in spite of the bloody cone, and the plastic jabs the injury. I've taken it back off and he's gone to sleep. I'm not really sure what else I can do.

LadyGrillingSole · 27/01/2025 23:07

Oh no! It looks like no one in the Hanging house will be getting much sleep tonight, then 😧

If his new suit arrives tomorrow I'd try to distract/bribe him (steak if necessary) to get it on him. Keep him from bothering his stitches until he's healed.

FeralWoman · 27/01/2025 23:07

Guess the outfit was delicious. I’m sure he enjoyed it.

Can you ask the other Pod owners what they used instead of a cone? They’ll be wise to the bendy flexible ways of the pointy dog.

Ellmau · 27/01/2025 23:33

Oh dear. I suppose this is Pod, after all - he was never going to make it easy.

Hehehe Grin

I'm watching him on the camera and he hasn't moved a muscle so I think I'm okay to go to sleep. My pantsless, coneless smegheaded Pod.

WiddlinDiddlin · 28/01/2025 05:24

Oh dear.

Do you know if there are external stitches or just glue/nothing sticking out?

There is a very good chance that he will give it a sniff and a quick lick and leave it the fuck alone and just concentrate on moping about and looking sad about it, possibly with some lying on his back toward the end of tomorrow, legs splayed out so you can gaze upon the stitches and bruised mess and feel even more guilty...

Do his ears melt off his head when he does Sad Mode? That is usually how I tell if a pointy dog has a Big Sad.. the ears fall off entirely.

Twiglets1 · 28/01/2025 07:04

First night over (worst night).

He’s doing ok isn’t he? Eating & drinking, doing his business, destroying his suit and refusing the cone. So far so good!

timeforachange999 · 28/01/2025 09:59

hmm it seemed much simpler when our cats were neutered. I don't remember any cones or anything. Not looking foward to our ddog being done. He'd probably eat the suit as well as destroy it. Poor Pod.

Whattodo1610 · 28/01/2025 11:46

Can I ask, is that a cannula still in his leg?

HangingOver · 28/01/2025 12:16

Morning Podsquad!

No, it was a little bandage covering where the canula was, they said I could take it off as soon as we were home, which I did.

@WiddlinDiddlin can confirm his tragic ears have practically fallen off him.

Interesting night - suit was fully unwearable by 11pm and putting the cone on caused unprecedented histrionics so I reluctantly left him to it.

Pod was enjoying the novelty of being allowed to sleep in the living room and took full advantage of his freedom by moving between his kitchen bed, his living room bed and the living room sofa a few times during the night. There was some licking but he often licks his willy and legs at night anyway and the dressing is still firmly stuck on for now.

He's still a bit sleepy and the weather is unspeakable so he's not TOO traumatised by house arrest yet.

I was surprised that my blanket surprised the night. He did some stealth nibnibs throughout the night but not a full shark attacks. At 3am he came and sat his entire arse on me which was quite sweet. No unusual activity on the pooping front, eating is a little bit reluctant but he's taking treats from DP happily.

Me and DP didn't switch over in the end - but I did get an involuntary look into what life would have been like if me and DP had had kids as, at 10.30 he said to me, "night night, wake me up in the middle of the night and I'll take over. So about 4 or 5am?". LOL.

I hope you can get some rest today Hanging, you will probably be proper shattered by tea time 😴

Sounds like Pod is coping well 👍 He's a brave little soldier, isn't he!

HangingOver · 28/01/2025 17:34

Alas, poor Kenneth ☠️

2025willbemytime · 28/01/2025 17:41

Better Kenneth than your arm or Pod more distressed.

I can report my dog slept through <faints>.

WiddlinDiddlin · 28/01/2025 18:50

Oh dear, Kenneth is no more? Well he had a short but useful life! 😂

HangingOver · 28/01/2025 20:10

Update: Kenneth has been extremely inexpertly reincarnated

HangingOver · 28/01/2025 22:28

It's hanging on but he's connected the front and back leg holes into a huge hole. I may as well set fire to my money at this point 😂
