Our 18mth spaniel has been spoilt with toys, enjoyed opening presents & hasn’t stopped asking to play his new squirrel toy. He’s had lots of walks & long sleeps too. He’s great with the kids, very chilled. He’s off to the beach today.

TandyhatesAmanda · 27/12/2024 06:42

Grumblebelly from the chicken I lovingly cooked for them, beautiful farts. Happy bouncy spaniels otherwise, enjoying all the peopleness

iloveeverykindofcat · 27/12/2024 06:43

He ate a rock and had it surgically removed from his intestines.

He's absolutely fine, completely back to normal, wagging, barking, eating and toileting normally.

He has learned nothing.

However, he is very handsome.

I bought ours some long-lasting chews to keep them quiet during present opening.

But they fell asleep during all the excitement so they've still not had them. They've been remarkably good. I'm especially pleased with the younger one, who is quite an anxious dog and easily gets over-excited, but she's coped with all the comings and goings and changes to routine really well.

The only difference is that we've done no training for the better part of a week, and it was noticeable out walking yesterday that the younger one (not gifted in the brains department) is already slipping on the stop whistle....

doodleschnoodle · 27/12/2024 08:20

Got into the kids' stocking chocs on Christmas Day so spent a few hours feeling sorry for herself before perking back up in time to have some turkey!

FrothyCothy · 27/12/2024 08:23

Living her best life as we’re in a house full of people and nobody has to work so she has someone to snuggle with all day if she chooses.

chattyness · 27/12/2024 08:24

Our boy has been great, excited, loved opening his gifts and enjoyed his Christmas dinner too, he's had the best time. We don't have visitors so he doesn't get nervy or over stimulated, but he is the centre of everything for us which is how we like it. Spoiled rotten he was 😍

LakeFlyPie · 27/12/2024 08:29

Completely out of sorts, he hates change from routine so was already upset when the tree went up, gradually compounded by guests visiting and sitting on his favourite sofa spots, his food bowls moving to the utility room and worst of all random fireworks in the neighbourhood.
The NY visitors and inevitable fireworks won't improve the situation 😢

BatFeminist · 27/12/2024 08:33

My poor boy spent it with exh. A visiting dog was allowed to pester and pester and pester him until he snapped and drew blood. He has never ever done that before. Why one of the adults could not have stepped in before it got that far I do not know.

Jellycatspyjamas · 27/12/2024 08:57

My pup has had a ball, lots of new people and a couple of new dogs to play with. He’s exhausted now though, spent yesterday curled up while I read a book.

User346897543 · 27/12/2024 09:02

Full of ham, turkey and pigs in blankets, currently snoring 💤

Twinstudy · 27/12/2024 09:11

Poor old boy is exhausted. He spent all day on high alert because there was so much exciting food around so didn't have his usual 18 hours sleep 😁He was also missed out on his full sleep Christmas eve because we were prepping for guests so he spent all day looking out for who was coming. He's fast asleep next to me in bed now, probably dreaming of pigs in blankets

feelingalittlehorse · 27/12/2024 09:27

2 chocolate labs here- they’ve been living their best lives opening gifts and eating their christmas dinners.

Their pile of presents out weighed any body elses 🤣🤣🤣

wastingtimeonhere · 27/12/2024 09:31

Mine has loved it, visitors, presents..extra bits of food...
She was sniffing round my bedroom and sussed where presents were hidden on Xmas eve..😂

DogsAndBirds · 27/12/2024 09:34

Dachshund cross here who is still asleep under his blanket this morning. Only time he has left was when I carried him to the garden and turfed him out for a wee. Didn't even try and steal the toddlers breakfast pancake. He is just so exhausted from the busyness and yummy food that needed constant watching and sniffing 🥹 He even worked out how to get onto the kitchen worktop which for a 4kg middle-aged dog is very very impressive (and required jumping onto multiple things like something from crash bandicoot game 😂)

Frangywangywoowah · 27/12/2024 09:35

My boy loved opening his presents and he brings joy to my in laws. We've had lovely long walks.
However, in am attempt to think we're being kind and giving him a treat he had a bowl of roast dinner. No gravy or fatty sausage but even this was too much for his tum and he had OH up in the middle of the night puking undigested food.

DominoRules · 27/12/2024 09:42

Living his best life! Everyone at home and lots of family walks which he just loves (plus the DC here all the time means extra treats as they spoil him!). We were away at my parents last weekend and he loves their old dog so they had a lovely time together.

@EdithStourton I need to do a training walk too, a week off and I can see my springer starting to take advantage 😂

biscuitsandbooks · 27/12/2024 09:50

Mine has been exhausted! Lots of food, a long Boxing Day walk and lots of human company for cuddles. We also visited his favourite person (FIL) on Monday and he got a ridiculous amount of treats 😂

Isabelle70 · 27/12/2024 10:03

Mine has had a ball, helped open lots of presents his and others, cleared any turkey scraps from lunch and received lots of squeaky balls so life could not be better.

Cocker spaniel here - she was watching out the window Christmas Eve for Santa coming, giddy at the park Christmas Day walk, had a lovely dog/cat friendly version of the Christmas dinner, has seen different family members each day and thinks the special visits were all about her…. She’s shattered! She’s had her usual two walks a day, but she’s taken herself up for a sprawling snooze on the double bed a few times. To be fair I’ve been doing the same.

Christmas is exhausting but lovely. She’s enjoying as many cuddles and snuggles as she wants. Living her best life.

She’s having doggy fish pie for New Year’s Day. She will love it.

Snowmanscarf · 30/12/2024 21:27

Been as good as gold, which is good as have poorly humans in the house. Enjoyed playing with wrapping paper, and having extra attention by all the visitors. Snoozed in between, and not fazed by the disrupted routines.

troppibambini6 · 30/12/2024 21:44

They've been great loving the fact that all their pack is here and they have lots more lap options during the day!
