I'm considering it and just wondering how you found it.
What rules are you expected to stick to with the puppy?

I've been looking at the website and it says you can leave them for up to 4 hours, would they be happy with very occasional longer than 4 hours if my dog walker comes and walks the puppy (and my dog).

I wfh most of the time but am in the office 2 days a week, dd wfh 2 days a week but sometimes our wfh days aren't opposite each other. My boss may be agreeable to me bringing a puppy in, was wondering if I need to ask and get that agreed first? But if they're happy with a dog walker and me being gone 6 hours I wouldn't need to bring the puppy to work.

Assume you mean puppy raiser. We currently have a guide dog puppy. You would need your work place to be approved and risk assessed by Guide Dogs before you could take it there. Leaving for more than for hours is problematic. Also you would have to have a Guide Dogs approved dog walker coming in to ensure insurance etc is met. Guide Digs have a network of Fosterers who can step in to cover holidays and illness etc.

Thank you. I’ll talk to my boss then and see if she’d be willing to get the work place assessed. My dog walker I’m pretty sure does not have insurance and I don’t want to change walker for my dog as I’m very happy with her.

A Guide Dogs Puppy Raiser and Fosterer are two separate volunteer roles, and I agree with EndofDaze that you mean Puppy Raiser. A Fosterer has the pup on evenings and weekends once they’ve gone into daily training.

We have very recently stopped puppy raising as our second pup was withdrawn and we’ve now adopted her. I don’t think you would be allowed to have a dog walker coming in - even for permanently rehoming a dog, Guide Dogs asks for no dog walkers. I think I do know of a couple of puppy raisers who take their pups to the office. If your daughter were to look after the pup as well then you and she would both need to be registered as Puppy Raisers.

If you’re on Facebook, there’s a good FB group called Puppy Raising for Guide Dogs. There are lots of very knowledgeable puppy raisers on there who I’m sure would gladly answer any questions.
