When to worry about fleas

Please help, it's driving me mad.

My rescue dog somehow got fleas from my mum's dog, even though he has monthly treatment. I treated again, as was due, and for a couple of days after I saw some erratic flea activity(which is apparently normal). It has now been 5 days and he seems to have more fleas, and more noticeable.

I'm now noticing bites on me, which I hadn't before.

Do I need to worry or is it normal for there to still be activity for this long after treatment?

I'm also combing him daily

What treatment did you use? Some are very much better than others.

You might want to speak to your vet in the morning and get a prescription version.

Did you treat your house, as well as the dog?

It is a treatment from the vet, can't remember what it was called but it isn't OTC.

I have used a spray around the house. I don't have any carpets so I've sprayed the soft furnishings and washed bedding etc on a high wash.

I am lile a flea magnet so we tried a few different spot ons for our cat before we found one which worked really well. The front line one is rubbish. I think the Advocate worked well but it didn't kill ticks and our cat spends a lof of time in fields of long grass picking up ticks so we have settled on Bravecto. No fleas here unless we forget or are late with a dose and then he will often bring a flea or two home (he is a terribly disloyal cat who goes in many other homes pretending to be underfed and unloved). It's amazing how fast they reproduce and we try to avoid that but if we do a dose of Bravecto and a spray of indorex fixes the issue.

Thank you, I will try Bravecto when he's due his next dose.

I’d call the vet and see what they suggest , you don’t want fleas for another couple of weeks multiplying in your house . Does your mum not treat her dog ?
