Oh gosh @Bupster , that sounds like an exhausting day for both of you. So many challenging dogs in one place does sound overwhelming.

I hope you can somehow get Bill to unwind enough to get a restful sleep tonight... sounds as if the drive could be rather daunting if he's still a bit wired 😟

Have a lovely birthday and enjoy the show x

Poor old Bill had a bit of a bucket-overflowing day today. Took him for a nice long walk this morning, which he loved, but he couldn't settle afterwards - too much seagull chasing on the walk, too many delivery men at home, plus too much background testosterone, I think. I managed to get him to nap for about an hour by getting him into the study and getting in the bed with him, like they did at daycare.

We went up to the dog park later and it was lovely at first, though there were a lot of dogs and one little one that he's a bit frightened of. After about half an hour the little one got very barky; then another dog he likes was grumpy at him; then a new dog (barky male spaniel) came in who was interested in his bestie (female) and the little barky dog started shouting at the new barky spaniel, so it all got Very Shouty and Bill ended up wanting to get in my dog walking bag.

I think I would have taken him home then, but was waiting for bestie's owner to persuade her dog to come over so we could walk back together. Then Bill's oldest friend ever arrived, with a puppy Bill's age that spends more time with them, and he and the puppy had a proper handbags scrap - all mouth and no trousers, but completely unlike him. They both calmed down and were fine but he just couldn't stop humping Oldest Friend - who is also a he, so it's not sexual, just an absolutely overflowing bucket of Stuff he hasn't been able to process.

Under any other circumstances I'd make sure we did absolutely nothing tomorrow, and just hung out - maybe another long, quiet walk. But instead I have to get us up at half five and drive for an hour (he's much better in the car, but this is by far the longest journey we'll have done in months) so I can go to a show with my nieces for my birthday while my brother looks after him. Too late to weasel out, but I am dreading the whole thing now, for his sake and mine 🙁

Ooh crikey that is a lot! Maybe he might just crash tomorrow from tiredness and be an angel all day?!

Oh by the way @Bupster I'm 60, going on 12😁That can be evidenced by my response compared to YF's 😳 I'm sure Bill will be fine tomorrow.

I'll go back to reading my Harry Potter now 🤐

CaptainBeanThief · 21/12/2024 19:25

@Bupster
It really does sound in that moment bill was just really overstimulated,
I wouldn't worry about it. Dust yourself off and move on. Dogs don't half stress us out.

brushingboots · 21/12/2024 19:34

@Bupster Awww poor Bill, bless his heart. All sounds like it was just too, too much. Love the image of you getting into bed with him. Hopefully you are having a nice chilled evening of snoozy puppy cuddles now.

Bupster · 21/12/2024 19:54

You’re all bloody lovely. Reading your responses makes me think actually he was doing pretty well overall to cope at all with all that shouting. It was making me a bit crazy. Add that to his tiredness and you’re all dead right, it was just too much, and he’ll be fine. Fingers crossed we both sleep tonight. Actually, send up a prayer that he goes out in the garden to poo tonight and spares me the 9pm poo walk in a gale, I’m a bit frazzled myself 🙄

CaptainBeanThief · 21/12/2024 20:44

Walk?
Ha get to fuck

How are you today/tonight?

CaptainBeanThief · 22/12/2024 17:34

Good afternoon guys!
How are we all? Are we prepared for Christmas? How are all our pups?
Me and my husband are at my mum's and milo is chilling out :-)

@CaptainBeanThief He's a handsome boy!

YorkshireFelix · 22/12/2024 19:10

I love Milo!

Vinny has been babysat by one of the girls who works for us and her two friends today and he was very good. They had a long walk and then he went to the pub for the first time ever and sat nicely with them. He'd definitely not sit nicely for us but I'll take it as a win 😄

CoubousAndTourmalet · 22/12/2024 19:44

That sounds good @YorkshireFelix At least you know that he doesn't mind having a dogsitter, and there are definitely times when that could come in handy.

I hope your daughter had a lovely birthday...

How are you feeling now; any better?

CoubousAndTourmalet · 22/12/2024 19:58

Brie's massive snout 😁She seems to be looking a lot more adult all of a sudden.

YorkshireFelix · 22/12/2024 20:58

@CoubousAndTourmalet she did thank you! I am feeling slightly better but not totally awful any more thankfully.

How are you doing? Brie looks so happy on that photo. I see what you mean about her looking a bit less puppy now!

CoubousAndTourmalet · 22/12/2024 21:40

@YorkshireFelix
Really hope you are properly on the mend now and can enjoy your Christmas break.

I'm okay thanks, aside from being a bit fed up with the weather; everywhere is so muddy 😩Brie had a good walk this morning but since then we've had hail and rain and a gusty wind, so she didn't get a second walk, but she doesn't seem to mind. She is pretty much as she looks; a very calm and contented girl, we are really lucky to have her 🤗

Talk about relaxed... 😆Milo is just so good at finding a comfy position to have a snooze. If only we all shared that skill...

thewalrus · 23/12/2024 07:38

Lots of lovely pictures to catch up on. Brie is gorgeous - that face! And I love the way Milo occupies any space - he's a handsome chap!
I hope you're doing OK @CaptainBeanThief.

When is Vinny going to the beach?! Looking forward to hearing what he makes of it!
All pretty good here. Bear is enjoying the busy house - my three teenagers have broken up for the holidays and there's nearly always a cousin or a friend here as well so she's getting lots of attention. Taking her to pets at home to get her stocking today (a ritual we started with our last dog when the kids were small).

CaptainBeanThief · 23/12/2024 07:48

@thewalrus
You better be sharing pictures of bear with the stocking 😉 you know we are all going to be dying to see that! Xx

YorkshireFelix · 24/12/2024 16:42

First beach trip! He wasn't sure of the sea but loved running about and sniffing around. Sat nicely for a chippy chip 😄 Hope everyone has a lovely festive period.

How was everyone's Christmas? ( For those who celebrate)
Mine was a maaaad one.
I hosted for 15, inc 7 children (my sister's) and Milo 😂.
I was nervous of Milo because I knew he was gonna be very over stimulated.
He had his moments and was hard work at points but he was very very polite to the children especially the 5 yr old and the 3 yr old, he was approaching them with caution each time, he never jumped up at them once, no nipping and just genuinely well behaved in that respect.
HOWEVER.... There is a BIG BUT coming, whilst we were all eating our dinner ( he had one too) he jumped over the gate, I was sat on the floor eating mine after a nice rest and he scoffed mine within 2 seconds out of my hands, it took me 10 seconds to even process what was going on.
I was too tired to even be angry at him. Tbh it was a busy environment but it doesn't excuse that behaviour.
Here is the specimen looking sorry for himself

CoubousAndTourmalet · 26/12/2024 16:17

Awwww no!!! Milo!!! You little horror!!! Looking suitably contrite on photo there...

Did you get any Christmas dinner at all @CaptainBeanThief after all that hard work? I hope there was something left for you.
Hosting for 15 is really brave, don't think I could manage that these days, especially with 7 kids involved. Well done for coping with it! It's good to hear that Milo was gentle with the little ones at least.

Nothing much to report from here, we didn't celebrate, weather is dreary, I had a horrible migraine on Christmas Day and couldn't eat anything at all so that was fun 😬

I hope everyone else has had a better time of it so far...

thewalrus · 26/12/2024 18:12

Argh! Naughty Milo!! (Though sounds like he was mostly very good.)
We were hosting too, and the non-dog-loving side of the family to boot, but actually it mostly went very well. We wore Bear out with a walk and a trip to the very busy beach for our traditional Christmas Day swim. (She joined in briefly and I think by accident!)
She's been to the Boxing Day football today as well, so is shattered now. Little does she know a doggy guest is arriving in a couple of hours!!
Hope you are better now @CoubousAndTourmalet, migraines are the very worst.
No stocking photos as one of the kids (and thus me) found the trip reminded us upsettingly of our last dog. Bear did get some nice new toys though.
Glad Vinny liked the beach! It's such a good space for dogs...
