Dog hammock thing for car - anything that fits with one rear seat flat?

We have a largish dog who currently goes lengthwise in the car ie with head against front passenger seat and one rear seat laying flat (so tail pointing to the boot IYSWIM. So, dog is sitting partly in the boot and only takes up one back passenger seat.

we have just bought a new to us car and I’m looking to contain the mud and dirt. I want a hammock thing that fits my dog transport configuration. All the ones I’ve seen involve the dog taking up the entire back seat or 2/3 of it which isn’t really an option for longer journeys as I also have kids. They seem to secure to seat backs/front headrests etc and I don’t think they will fit our setup.

so, can anyone recommend a hammock/container that goes lengthwise in the car when you drop 40% seat down?

Boot transport of dog not an option for various reasons.

thank you.

Bit Blue Peter but could you use a fitted sheet? One elastic end over the front headrest and then the other over something in the back of the boot?

That is not a bad idea.

Always open to Blue Peter solutions and given lack of market options maybe I need to be more inventive.

current car absolutely destroyed by the mud monster and this one is nicer so care more ;)

Admittedly our dog doesn’t go into the boot, but we do only give him half the back seat. We kinda cobbled the hammock, so the two clips go round one head rest. Then chucked a bed on it. Ours wasn’t one of those very rigid ones though, so easier to mess around with. Another option is go for 2 - 1 in each direction?

I bought a universal car cover. It ties onto the seats and seatbelts pull through. I then put a blanket over the side he sits on so we are doubly covered.

It was from vgroup but fairly common and probably a similar on Amazon. I don't think much helps with a big dog.
