As far as I know not “especially” for dogs, but many antihistamines can be used in dogs.

have you spoken to a vet?

Dogs can take human Piriton, it was recommended to us by our vet as much cheaper than the dog version. Make sure it is the Piriton brand specifically though, Piriteeze and other brand have ingredients that are not good for dogs. Oh and you need to tell the pharmacist it is for a human, they won’t sell it to you for a dog.

Speak to a vet before giving anything as dose would definitely be different and an awful lot of things can be toxic to dogs

WinteringWellies · 09/11/2024 13:41

My dog uses Piriton (NOT repeat not Piriteze!!!).

HappiestSleeping · 09/11/2024 13:42

My vet also said human piriton and worked out the dose based in weight. My lab is 25kg and has half a tablet per day. Have a chat with your vet to get a dose appropriate for your dog.

EdithStourton · 09/11/2024 14:48

Piriton, as PP have said.
For reference, we gave our JRT half a one a day for much of her life with no ill effects.
For a 25kg dog, one is enough to settle nettle stings.

DramaAlpaca · 09/11/2024 14:59

Yes, my itchy springer was prescribed half a Piriton daily.

Thank you everyone .
I am booking her an appointment at the vets next week.
She is really itching herself and I notice her skin looks inflamed and beginnings of hair loss in some areas.
i don’t think fleas
or her food.

Yup piriton is fine. Used to have to give my jack russell half a tablet everyday. He was allergic to so much
