Tips for tangles?

Hi,
My lovely mongrel has kind of medium length wire/guard hair (straight) over a woolly undercoat. She came to me with lots of matting which took some time to sort out. I brush her every day and use a good dog shampoo and detangle spray when I give her a bath, but every day, her hair is tangled. No matting any more, but the slicker brush catches and she’s unsurprisingly not keen on being brushed (although getting better after a year of practice and licky mats). Is this just normal? My previous dog had short, fine hair so I’m a novice in caring for longer coats. Any tips for tangle-free hair?

I just brush every day and use a detangler/leavein conditioner once or twice a week, my dog hates a slicker brush so I use a normal Denman brush and a metal comb.

I used a Tangle Teezer, it worked well and was well tolerated as long as I did it regularly and frequently. For big knots lurking behind the ears I used Cowboy Magic (originally made for horses so make sure you get the smallest size you can).
