My 5 year old dog has been flinching when i touch her sides (i can locate the sore spot to be where her fur ends and belly begins - pain on both sides).

I took her to the vet a few weeks ago and he felt down her back, said she had a sore spot and thats what was causing the pain, gave me painkillers and off i went.

Fast forward a few weeks, the painkillers did absolutely nothing and shes still tensing when i touch her. Weirdly its the first time i touch her and shes fine after that.

Im obviously going to contact the vet again tomorrow but if there any vets who can offer any other insights?

She has been neutered. She is also so precious to me and I'm so worried :(

Thank you

If it's only happening the first time you touch her, are you sure she's not anticipating pain, realising it's fine and then is fine?
