Moving on from the puppy survival thread, this is for anyone with a hormonal teenager 🤪

Brodie is just over 7 months now, and is a fun loving pup who is (mostly) a pleasure to be around. My main issue is still walking him which can either be almost a pleasure, or like having a Tasmanian Devil doing breast stroke and bunny hopping down the road 😡. There seems to be no reason for which dog gets attached to the end of the lead, but at least it shows he can do it if he's in the mood!

We've also had our first proper tummy upset this week 🤢 no doubt due to some rubbish he picked up and swallowed before I spotted it. Thankfully it seems to have passed now.

@tizwozliz Oh no, bless her! I'm curious as we got pupsy done in the summer and it all went through OK – do the vets test for hormone levels before they put them under, and if it's too high they ring you up and get you to take them home again?

tizwozliz · 08/11/2024 11:41

Hormone levels assessed by squeezing teats, nothing more technical. There was some clear liquid there so we're waiting 3 weeks and then they'll examine again. This was all in the handover so didn't have to leave her and then return.

Just catching up on the thread. Christmas party sounds great, i am known to enjoy a dance once i get in the spirit, i hope thats ok?
re small dogs, we've only ever had yapping and snapping from small dogs, particularly pugs and chihuahuas. All the large breed dogs we've met so far have been lovely!
Has anyone had any experience with halti head collars?
We had a small win today walking back from our walk, max walked about 5 minutes to heel to our front door. He was so pleased with himself bless him!

I have rarely received such a lovely hello as I did from Bill this morning – and it's fair to say he and pupsy were delighted to see one another again! Much horse poo was scoffed by all though @Bupster and I did not partake.

This is lovely @brushingboots and @Bupster

It sounds as if you're all firm friends now! Looks like a great location for the dogs.

lookwhatyoumademedoo · 09/11/2024 14:43

aw that's lovely! looks like pups had a fab time!!

Bupster · 09/11/2024 15:58

Honestly it was so lovely - the two dogs played together as if they'd known each other forever, and to be honest that's how I felt we chatted too. Isn't this forum ace?

The day has gone a bit pear-shaped since - my car has what feels like a very expensive coolant leak. Pup's at daycare - thank God they offer a taxi service or I'd be stuffed.

YorkshireFelix · 09/11/2024 16:04

@brushingboots @Bupster THEY ARE TOO CUTE!

tizwozliz · 09/11/2024 16:22

As yesterday's spay didn't happen we were able to enter a little hoopers competition organized by our trainer. Grace got a 2nd, did some other really nice runs but going to say hello to the judges gets you eliminated 😂

Older one got a 1st and 3rd much to everyone's surprise

Love the spot on 1990s Titanic film description of Bill's expression @Bupster. Haven't laughed so much for weeks 😂

They sound like they're living their best lives @tizwozliz Well done to Grace and her older sibling on their Hoopers gold, silver and bronze sweep 😊

Bless them, glad Pupsy and Bill enjoyed a happy reunion 😊 looks like they're getting on great.

Rundle is back to say “hi” to the laydees.

Great caption depicting his expression. Agree with other posters, Rundle has something special about him. His unique name seems apt for such a uniquely handsome looking character.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 10/11/2024 10:08

Thank you @LemonsPalms. We emigrated to Canada nearly 14 years ago and are lucky enough to own a home in the Rocky Mountains. Mount Rundle is one of the mountains between Canmore and Banff. I know of one other dog by that name and a few called Jasper.

brushingboots · 10/11/2024 11:25

@YorkshireFelix You are very welcome to join us in our spanielling!

YorkshireFelix · 10/11/2024 13:42

@brushingboots I will have to try one time when I'm down visiting my parents as you're not too far from there!

brushingboots · 10/11/2024 14:28

@YorkshireFelix We were saying yesterday that Clumber wouldn't be too far at all so perfectly doable! @Bupster

LemonsPalms · 11/11/2024 11:07

@MooseBeTimeForSnow looks like a lovely part of the world, a beautiful mountain and a great namesake for Rundle pup. Welcome to you both from the other side of the pond 🙂Communications technology is so good these days that 4 miles away or 4,000 seems much the same 😊

LemonsPalms · 11/11/2024 12:18

Lemon pup looking deceptively mature and 'all grown up' at 13.5 months old.
In reality he's still very much a young teen at heart, in his mind and in his behaviour. To be expected when 1 year ago today he still slept in a puppy pile with all his littermates too young to leave. He's come a long way since then. And I suppose so have I in terms of learning the things you can't learn from a book about raising your first puppy.

Happy "Gotcha week" Lemon Dog. I'm so glad I did.

@LemonsPalms - what a handsome chap.

We've always had a bit of puppy privilege with ours as they look younger, so people thing you have a well-behaved puppy :-D

PyreneanAubrie · 11/11/2024 12:45

@LemonsPalms
Happy Anniversary to you and Lemon Dog. He's a handsome fellow.

PyreneanAubrie · 11/11/2024 12:46

Well done to both your girls @tizwozliz .

YorkshireFelix · 11/11/2024 14:13

@LemonsPalms Lemon Dog is lovely!

LibisMum · 11/11/2024 14:17

Libi now opens the door and lets herself back into the house (tall enough to reach the handle and worked out the mechanics). I'm going to have to work on teaching her to close it as well though......

Next thing you know she'll be wanting her own key 😆

YorkshireFelix · 11/11/2024 22:11

Vinny living up to the stereotype of a typical spaniel. He is OBSESSED with the Sky remote and loves to just carry it around in his mouth in the evening. I used to try and take it off him but he doesn't chew and just holds it, so I now allow him to live his best life 😂
