New dog advice

Hello we are looking to get a smallish dog but im a bit worried as I'm like a new dog owner despite growing up with big dogs . Those dogs were my parents dogs and were untrained and to be honest I was scared of them .

Anyways I'm looking at dogs now but feel a bit like need advice . At home it will just be me and my partner and I work 3 days a week 8-4 so the dog would hopefully use the dog flap . What else do I need to consider ?

Get a cat.

If you're already planning on leaving the poor thing 3 days a week alone for hours whilst you work then honestly don't get a dog.

A stuffed dog sounds perfect.

Eight hours a day is too long to leave a dog.
