Need advice with meal times.

Hi, I have the loveliest dog. 3 1/2 year old shihtzu. He's good as gold and so loved. I just need to sort his meal times!

Quite typically of his breed he's not massively fussed on food.
He doesn't get food until 12 as if I put it out any earlier he ignores it.
He has wet food only and I don't like leaving it out but he sometimes doesn't eat until 4 and then again about 8.
But then some days it will be 9/10am.
Sometimes he will eat all of it, others he eats half. Sometimes he waits for me to put it out, sniffs it, then walks away!

How can I get him to have more set mealtimes?
Put it out for half an hour then take it away?

Will he not eat dry food? I leave dry out for my fussy eater so that he can eat whenever he wants, then he gets wet food at night.

No. He has zero interest in dry food! It would just sit in the bowl!

Our dog was like this, so we started giving her breakfast and tea at set times. If she didn’t eat, then ten minutes later we removed the food. We also kept a close eye on her weight. She now eats every meal we put down.

Thank you. I think that's the answer isn't it. I think i used to do this at 9 and 5 then got out the habit.

I wouldn't leave food out for a fussy eater.
Leave it out 10 minutes at a time

Food is the one thing I’m strict with. Food down then 20 minutes later it comes up. No snacks. Then again in the evening. They do eat better after a walk or a play so you can enhance appetite that way.
