Cancer

My darling pup (she’s 11) has cancer.

Vet was very matter of fact and pragmatic that treatment would only be for my benefit and not my dog’s. At the moment it’s not actually bothering her, and if it’s slow growing she “might” be ok for a long time.

I suspect it will only be a few months before I need to make decisions.

I’m devastated.

Ridiculously I’ve just spent a year supporting my mother through cancer (she’s in remission), and this feels like a very cruel joke.

Noticed a lump on Sunday, confirmed on Tuesday; it’s all a bit much.

So sorry. I really hope you can have some good times ahead and the outlook is as positive as it could be.

I'm so sorry to read this. Dogs can be extremely stoic and hide pain so well. Please let your vet guide you if you are unsure, however many people say they'd rather have pts a day too early than a day too late. I have lost many pets over the years; it's devastating bit I hope with all of them I didn't let them suffer. Sending you strength, hugs and peace 🤗

I’m so sorry, make the most of her. Do her favourite things, feed her what she wants. Take care of yourself, you must be emotionally drained.
