My beautiful girl left us yesterday

My wonderful 12.5 yr old cocker spaniel pts yesterday. Such a beautiful loving dog. Her quality of life had reduced so much and I read on here "better to do it a day too soon than days too late".
I told her she had been such a good dog and how loved she was. My god I've never felt pain like this, we are all completely broken

I hear you there. You did the right thing by her, but it's so very hard. The hardest thing, but she needed you to do it, and you stepped up for her.

I had a cry over my collie today and he went a year last May. It will always be there but it does get better. Or less frequent. It is the price we pay for love.

They are worth it 💔

I'm so sorry. We lost our beautiful pug 2 days ago. I'm finding it so hard.

Elcad · 24/08/2024 07:12

Sorry for your loss. You've been a great owner till the end, putting her needs first.
It will get better with time.
💐

It’s the hardest, kindest decision OP. Sorry for your loss. Would you like to share a photo of your lovely girl?

LoudSnoringDog · 24/08/2024 15:46

Sending hugs. I lost my labrador last October and the pain is unbearable. I still get a lump in my throat when I think of her. X

CuteCillian · 24/08/2024 16:57

She looks the thoughtful type, beautiful.
We scattered the ashes of our springer in the body of water he loved and I really find visiting there, particularly when the sun sets, brings back many happy memories.
So sorry.

It's so hard. My lovely dog died over four years ago, at a similar age to yours - my husband and I still speak of him at least once a day, but we do now remember him with happiness and pleasure, time has mellowed the pain - time is the only healer for the grief you are feeling. How wonderful that your beautiful dog was happy and loved for so long with you.

Cinders0403 · 24/08/2024 17:02

I'm so sorry, it's awful but sounds as if she had an amazing life with you all. I remember all mine with such love, grief is the price we pay for that love. Look after yourself and one day you'll be able to remember the happy times

Fartooold · 24/08/2024 17:15

I know exactly how you feel. I had my shadow pts in Tuesday and today is the first day I have been able to talk about him without breaking down completely.

Like yours, mine loved water and was a beach bum.

It hurts so much, but I know I did the best thing for him, he just fell asleep, in pain no longer.

Take care .

@LoudSnoringDog - love this photo, what a beauty. Also like your plan for your DDog’s ashes ❤️

I’m so sorry that you’ve lost your beautiful girl, and fully understand how you’re feeling.
Our wonderful boy was pts last Saturday, barely an hour has gone by since when I haven’t cried. Never known pain like it.
