Neighbour HATES my dog!

1000 replies

Canecorsomummy · 08/08/2024 19:20

Hi everyone!

I’ve lived in my house for over 9 years now, have owned a poodle cross for 8 of those years. April last year I got a Cane Corso puppy, spoke to this certain neighbour informing her, gave her my number and told her if there was any problems with barking etc, especially if I’m not home, then go please let me know so I can resolve it but she has done nothing but cause me problems ever since.

Last year I was taking rubbish to the bins and the CC followed me out and was being fussed over by my neighbour on the other side of my house. 24 hours later the other neighbour put a computer typed letter through my letterbox stating the car park is not a place to walk a dog, it is illegal for her not to be on a lead and if she sees it happening again she is going to report me for having a out of control dog and her being a dangerous breed!! I sent her a text message explaining the law very basically for her and explaining under no circumstances will she be putting notes through my letterbox over something which could be dealt with by an adult conversation.

Well, since April this year she has made numerous reports to RSPCA claiming I’m neglecting her, abusing her and now a report to Social Services claiming I’m not only neglecting my CC, but she is a dangerous breed and I have a young child in my home!

I have absolutely had enough now!! My back door is normally open 24 hours as I have an enclosed garden but I’m petrified to allow the dog to be able to go in and out at her free will because of this neighbour, petrified I’m going to be approached by rspca/police when I’m out walking her ….

I just don’t know what to do now.

@CellophaneFlower amd again for the god knows how many times, a cane corso is NOT ON ANY DANGEROUS DOGS LIST! Lol

Where did I say it was? I said they will be... which they will at some point, when there are more about so the attacks become more frequent.

I think I'd give up if I were you. I'm going to. She posted asking the internet about something she has no interest in changing her view on.

I asked on advice on how to move forward with my neighbour nothing regarding the breed of dog I chose to own and I never asked for anyone to do a quick google search to educate me on the breed either!

@CellophaneFlower do you know when the last dog was put on the banned breed list before this recent XL bully type one added?

Now we are really getting to the point you’re making, you don’t like the breed and are assuming that the OP is a certain type of person because she has one. Whilst I appreciate there are many that use this breed to gain status in their sick little world, it is very clear that the OP is not one of them. She has rescued that dog from a life of misery and you would think as a ‘dog lover’ you would respect that. The OP’s dog is under control and well trained BUT could be as unpredictable as your giant teddy bear that everyone loves 🙄

I'm not assuming anything. I was saying as per my earlier post, that she clearly likes a bit of controversy. She has started a thread about her neighbour but straightaway mentioned the breed and has it in her user name. She knew which way it would go. We used to get the same threads about XL bullies.

Canecorsomummy · 09/08/2024 21:41

@CellophaneFlower alao there is no dangerous saga list, there is a dangerous dogs ACT, which covers every dog, regardless of breed and size.

there is then the Banned Dogs List, 2 completely different things

OP posts:
Canecorsomummy · 09/08/2024 21:43

@CellophaneFlower you think the breed of my dog would not have been an important factor to mention when asking for advice on how to more forward with my neighbour? 🤣🤣

Considering I have family from and living in Aggregento, Sicily, visit at least twice a year, have my own car there, I’d say I might POSSIBLY Know where it is, just a small possibility of course! 🤣

Then you should know this. Car there or not anyway, you researched the breed right?

Canecorsomummy · 09/08/2024 21:49

@CellophaneFlower i did indeed to extensive research, also sought out professional advice, especially regarding training.

Maybe it would be safer for yourself, dog, children and members of the public if you did the same regarding your puppy before he/she becomes too big and set in her ways 💕

They left it too late. Hopefully they've learned their lesson.

CellophaneFlower · 09/08/2024 21:51

I actually had a similar argument on here once with someone over her xl bully. She laughed at me when I said they would be banned.

Yet you didn't realise they were bred to take down bears? Lol reminds me of a lady I met with a whippet. I asked if he chased lots of small furry things and she said "not really, as I've never taught him to" 🤦‍♀️

I don’t think that was the plan at all, she simply stated the breed for context. You’ve come up with your own assumptions.

LilBowWow · 09/08/2024 21:56

If cane corsos are banned in the near future it will just prove that BSL is a worthless point scoring exercise that only appeases people who can’t see past the end of their nose (or the end of their unruly dog’s lead).

Again though, not the point of this thread.

Canecorsomummy · 09/08/2024 21:57

@CellophaneFlower are you fully up to date regarding the XL ban? Are you aware there is a legal case, discussions happing regarding the ban being withdrawn?

do you know the Pitbull has been banned for probably about 30 years but are being seized on a regular basis right now?

The mayor of London made an official statement only days after the ban came into place stating the met police don’t have the funding to in force the ban as it needs to be?

Do you know why wild animals who have been kept in captivity, say a zoo are never released back to their natural habitat? Because they have not learnt the survival skills for them to survive

There's a reason they're kept in cages though. It's called instinct. You can train it out of them to a point but it never totally leaves them. My dog is part retriever and spends a lot of her day carefully carrying her soft toys around in her mouth so as not to damage them. That's what she was bred to do.

And what other breed/breeds is she crossed with?

they are not CAGED, they are kept in enclosures for their safety and the safety of others. Exactly the same as dog owners needed to keep their dogs in control, especially in public places which you have already admitted that there is specific occasions you struggle to and she’s only a puppy who is going to get bigger and stronger

They were actually bred as gun/working dogs, to hunt game but I’m sure they were trained to be ever so gentle when catching said game

I haven't read the whole thread so this may have been said before, but I would contact the RSPCA/other organisations she's complaining to and ask them to consider your neighbour to be a vexatious complainant.

I'd also report to the police for harassment. She is making a lot of reports about you in bad faith, her intention towards you is to cause you distress.

Cane corsos are a gorgeous breed btw especially when they're in the right hands. I'd love one but we don't have the space! Yours sounds lovely. Dogs get people frothing on here.

Mischance · 09/08/2024 22:16

Canecorsomummy · 09/08/2024 17:39

@Mischance if your fear is that bad that you believe it’s acceptable to make false allergations, waste professionals times, cause mental distress on another adult and their child, when their ‘fear’ has not even crossed your path for over 12 months then you need professional medical help and made to learn the laws regarding wasting police time, harassment and intimidation

And there is the problem in a nutshell. You are not able to take on a different point of view and until that happens you will be at cross purposes with your neighbour. You cannot suggest that she ( or indeed I) need medical help for having an opinion that differs from yours.

You had a dog for 8 years and had no problems which makes me think the neighbour isn't the problem but the new dog is

Having a fear is not something you need medical advice for. Wasting animal charities, the police and child services time with false allegations due to your fear is something that needs looked at medically and is also illegal. The false allegations is what I have a problem with, not that she has a fear of my dog!

No she did make reports about my older dog initially as well. She again claimed I lock her in the garden when I go out so she’s barking completely and she is unable to sit in her garden because of it

Well no, she was bred to retrieve birds etc after they'd been shot. They carry them gently so they don't damage them. How funny are you that you need it explaining 🤣
