Weed killer that is safe for dogs

Hello

The weeds on our patio are out of control, despite trying to stay on top of them so we are considering using a weed killer. Can anyone recommend one that is effective but not harmful to dogs.

Thanks in advance.

Try pouring boiling water on the weeds. (keep doggo away!)

Dishwasher salt works quite well too.

Weedol is apparently fine for dogs once it’s dry. I’ve used it twice this year (keeping Ddog indoors until it had completely dried) with no ill effects. Oh, and it’s really effective.

Thanks for the suggestions, will give them all a go.

Vinegar, boiling water, baking soda are options.

Resist the temptation to use weed killer. It is toxic.

Vinegar and baking soda will both kill your soil permaculture whilst being only moderately effective at killing weeds (they scorch the leaves but the root remains unharmed so will grow back) and the soil will not be able to recover if a large change to its pH is inflicted on it. If you use a weed killer that is licensed as a weed killer, it will have been correctly tested to ensure it is not harmful to other garden life if applied correctly. Many garden weed killers are fine for use around pets if the pet is kept off the area it’s applied to until the weedkiller is dry. Which is not long in the grand scheme of things.

Try a weed burner. Again, keep pets off while you use it.

Yes, I use a weed burner on the patio area.
