As the title say I just found this on my dog's paw. Does he need to see a vet today ? Just worried about it going into the weekend. Also super anxious as recently lost our other dog and she had a sarcoma on her paw, although looked nothing like this?

Could be a grass seed which has worked its way under the skin - they are awful this year. A trip to the vet is the only way to be sure.

Thanks. I've managed to book him in.

Might be a histiocytoma - alarming-looking but harmless. Only a vet will be able to tell you for sure though.

Not saying 100% but one of my dogs had a lump like this one his paw,it was a fibroma, harmless lump

Thanks all. We took him to the vet. It was a grass seed and they lanced it and removed it. He is on antibiotics. We had a bad night last night with him being really unsettled but seems ok today, although he won't keep him dressing on !

Glad it's sorted. Grass seeds are a blooming nightmare at the moment.

Put a kids sock on the paw and use micropore tape round the top but just not tight. I've got a cocker spaniel who does this several times each summer - very practicised at it!

Thank you for the update. Do you know I almost said grass seeds! We tried the sock,in the end it was an Elizabethan collar.

Fortunately the wound is healing really quickly and he seems to be fine. Think I will try and be more vigilant at checking him all over. We are forever pulling grass seeds out of his fur and ears so I guess he's been lucky really to make it to seven and not have had this before !
