I just wanted to post because I had lots of support and advice on this board.
My German Shepherd is now 18 months old. She had 3 homes before she came to us at 5 months old and as far as I could tell had been well loved but had no training or socialisation and was just too much for the previous owners.
I started training with her straight away but it was hard going especially when she hit her teenage phase. I was having to walk her for around three hours a day alongside training, it was exhausting and she was an absolute menace at home and when out. I posted on here a number of times just for reassurance that it would get easier.
I'm really pleased to say that it did indeed get easier and she is now the absolute best dog. She's just home from a 4 hour hike followed by dinner in the pub. She has cost me a fortune in training and time over the last year but it's been completely worth it.
She walks beautifully, her obedience is great, she is fantastic off lead, I can take her anywhere, well mannered in the house and can actually chill out now. She's just a pleasure to own. She loves our whole family so much and it's just a privilege to have her in our lives.
