Puppy Name Ideas

Just a lighthearted one - I've been brainstorming puppy names! Will be looking to add a border collie bitch puppy to our little family later this year!
I currently have a rescue mix who has a book related name so would love to carry on the theme with another book name, ideally one that isnt already a common dog name as I work with dogs so come across lots. Please let me know your ideas!

Just because I'm sure I'll get the inevitable comments - there are a few different reasons while this dog will be a well-bred puppy, one being that she'll work as well as being a beloved family pet so there are certain things I'm looking for. I've rescued before and will no doubt rescue again in the future.

The shorter name the better I think for recall and training etc.
So I like Scout and Prim(rose) out of your list.

Border collies traditionally have one (max two) syllable names. Tess & Scout are great! Also Nell, Pip, Fern, Spark, Swift ...

Did you not read the OP?

they MAY get a puppy later in the year.

Rainbowstripes · 04/07/2024 21:34

Hopefully there will be photos one day 😂 the puppy fever is real but I've got some work changes coming up and it makes sense to wait until afterwards so I have more free time to get puppy settled and trained so that down the line she can come into work with me if things are busier

I like Tess.

Bigcoatlady · 09/07/2024 11:57

Basic principle with collie names is if you stand in a field and shout it can someone hear you 500m away on a windy day?

Tess is good but I'd suggest Cathy is probably more apt for a BC, you'll be doing a lot of roaming around moors in wet weather feeling a bit mad.
