Hello

Please could I have recommendations for toys /puzzles /brain games /entertaining products for a 7 month old terrier? (Not squeaky toys as we already have lots )

Also how much game/entertainment time are you giving your dogs at this age ? (Not including walks ) Not sure how much of the day should be taken up..

Thanks

Our cocker absolutely loves hunting out small treats in her snuffle mat and snuffle ball. She also loves this ball, and rolling treat toys like this have always been a big hit. her absolute favourite activity is ripping up a loo roll inner with treats inside. She's not a fan of kongs, but our old boy absolutely loved a frozen kong with mashed banana, which would keep him quiet for about half an hour.

Loads of ideas on this FB group, although it's a bit American and not all the toys suggested are available in the UK.

Another easy one is to roll up an old muslin or teatowel, put a treat in the middle and tie it in a knot - loosely at first, but tighter as your pup gets the hang of it. Ours tends to chew through the material to get to the treat, but it still keeps her quiet for ages.

I’d keep things simple to start with, if the really struggle they might just get frustrated which isn’t the goal you want.
Id start simply with a snuffle mat for his kibble or maybe a treat ball

Terriers are smart. I am a life long terrier owner and have used a mix of shop bought toys, toys you can make a home and games you can play together. That way it is more exciting and you will bond so well instead of just bunging a toy their way.

Some great ideas for you here plus videos... using all sorts of things from baking trays to cardboard boxes and plastic cups :-)

@DforDogWoof that's such a handy link. Thank you!

You are welcome. Sometimes I used to have as much fun making up games as playing them 😀
