Hand hold please - 7 month pup

Can I have a hand hold please? My 7 month old Labrador puppy is in surgery. She had major surgery yesterday to remove an intestinal blockage and she's taken poorly again today. Things look bleak and I am in pieces

Sending love xx

Unluckycat1 · 20/05/2024 14:35

Oh I'm so sorry it's not better news. All you can do is hope, so I'll be hoping alongside you x

JSMill · 20/05/2024 14:38

That's awful. You and your little pup will be in my thoughts.

whirlyhead · 20/05/2024 14:38

Oh no! I hope she's ok. I have a 5 year old cat who has had 7 operations to remove intestinal blockages (caused by fur!!) and she's ok. It is really worrying so I can empathise.

Aw so awful op, we nearly lost our dog recently due to something it shouldn’t getting ingested (retriever) sending love and will be thinking about you and your family
🐾❤️

Itsneverme · 20/05/2024 16:51

Have faith! One of my dogs went through this and we didn't think she would make it! She was at my mums when I had an appointment. My mum felt awful about it but my little lady is sat at the bottom of my feet right now!

Please keep us updated and I will pray 🙏 for you xx

ACynicalDad · 20/05/2024 18:27

Wishing you nothing but the very best, labradors eating foreign bodies, could happen to any of us.

bozzabollix · 20/05/2024 18:32

I had to say goodbye to my beautiful one year old lab puppy on her first birthday as they didn’t think she’d survive surgery. She’s lying at my feet at the moment still with us. When they’re young they can withstand a lot. We had to take her up to the Royal College in Hertfordshire who put her in intensive care. She rallied and they wanted her out because she was being a pest!

I tell you this so you don’t lose hope, they CAN get through these things. I really hope yours does. It was like someone had wrenched my heart out and given it a good kicking. I really feel for you, it’s awful, but have hope.

Mindblownawaybyfog · 20/05/2024 18:33

Rooting for your precious pooch op..

fieldsofbutterflies · 20/05/2024 19:30

Any update on your lovely girl, OP?

OldSpeclkledHen · 20/05/2024 19:57

Vets always must give guarded diagnosis/outcome

But here's hoping your little girl is back where she belongs pdq 💗💗

graystoon82 · 20/05/2024 20:02

Thank you so much everybody for your kind words.

You're right, the vet gives very negative and guarded updates but I know it's what she needs to to in order to manage my expectations.

Latest update - she is brighter. She's eaten some ham and her feeding tube is annoying her, which is apparently good as it's a sign of awareness etc.

Apparently following intestinal surgery, if it's going to fail it will fail around 72 hours post op and because of the damage to my little pup, her chances aren't good at all 😞 But I am hoping with everything in me that she's lucky.

She has brought so much happiness to our home. My 3 DC are lost at the moment and I'm trying to manage their expectations too. Please keep her in your thoughts, if love could heal her she would be back here now ❤️

CoffeeAndPeanuts · 20/05/2024 20:07

@graystoon82 I'm so glad she made it through the surgery.

where there's life, there's hope 💕

what did she eat?? They're little buggers aren't they! I saw a program once where a lab had 2 socks, a decent sized single piece Lego Christmas tree & various other things removed & this wasn't his first rodeo!!

Im keeping her in my thoughts 🥰

GuppytheCat · 20/05/2024 20:11

All the loving vibes ever to your poor little pup, and massive sympathy to you and your children.

Thank you 💕

There were various things in there, lots of plastic. But the damage has been caused to her intestine by a 'linear object' - that's why her chances are not great, the damage to her intestine was extensive and a lot of repair work was carried out. I am just hoping against hope ❤️
