Fair weather park users

Can all get to fuck.

Fifteen minutes it took me for a parking space to come available - not helped by some fair weather park user queue jumping - and I was pushed for time, so the dog had a 15 minute shorter walk.

There ought to be some sort of loyalty scheme for those of us who actually bother to use the park between October and February.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

Give over. Anyone can use the public space, and people are more likely to do so in glorious weather. Are you suggesting people shouldn’t be able to take their kids for a picnic/runaround in green space because you should take priority due to having a dog? As a dog owner I get that it’s frustrating, but your suggestion is bonkers.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 09/05/2024 14:22

Are you talking about a public park? If so, you can't demand priority because you use it in bad weather! If parking is tricky, park 10 minutes walk away then walk there with your dog. That way dog gets a longer walk and you don't need to stress about parking!

Floralnomad · 09/05/2024 14:23

Don’t be ridiculous .

Spinet · 09/05/2024 14:25

No, I think dogs should be banned from the parks between May - September, like on the beach.

FastFood · 09/05/2024 14:25

I feel the same OP, I was fuming when I saw people using MY park and standing in MY meadow this morning. How dare they?! Where were they when it was 2° and rainy??

Joke aside, I'm always surprised to see that there are 300% more dogs on sunny days like today, where are those good boys and girls the rest of the year?

Ffs get over yourself

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/05/2024 14:28

I assume this is light-hearted.

I feel the same way about MY lake. All the people picnicking in the sun. Were they here with the dog and I in the rain in January? Were they bollocks.

Floralnomad · 09/05/2024 14:31

Where we live you always see lots of different dogs on the odd occasion it snows , I assume they just walk elsewhere the rest of the time .

dammit88 · 09/05/2024 14:32

😂I agree! I like going where I go to get away from people. Sun comes and they and they bloody everywhere!

Comefromaway · 09/05/2024 14:33

I don't use the park between October and February because by the time I get back from work it is too dark and I don't feel safe. Instead I walk my dog on the main roads.

But I don't complain about those who drive to the park and clog the nearby streets with their cars when I walk there.

MultiplaLight · 09/05/2024 14:35

Walk your dog out the front door instead of driving to the park.

TuesdayWhistler · 09/05/2024 14:36

Tongue in cheek posts rarely go well with the AI Rage Bots on MN op.

I agree with you in part though. There's a definite increase in asshats getting pulled around by their asshats dogs when the weather is nice.

I don't see the shit heaps when it's pissing down... Mostly cause i stay home.. but the point still stands...

kitsuneghost · 09/05/2024 14:41

I am sick of elevated traffic by people that drive to parks
I am also sick of dogs in parks
I am glad it was an inconvenience for you

What a ridiculous post OP!

You're being ridiculous, and you know it, but I feel the same about beer gardens as a smoker. I've paid my dues in November so sod off indoors. I am also being ridiculous.

Doesn't mean I don't silently think it though.

Lululime2024 · 09/05/2024 15:06

Entitled much 😂

DancefloorAcrobatics · 09/05/2024 15:10

😂 never mind not finding a parking space... what about the rubbish they leave behind or walking 5 all side by side so you can't get past without walking through the stinging nettles!
Now THAT is a real issue!

I often wonder this. I'm out with my dog all hours in all weathers and hardly see anyone when it's not optimal weather and timing. I sometimes ask people what they do with their dogs when the weather is terrible and I hear 'oh, he hates it when it's raining'. My dog doesn't exactly turn somersaults when it's peeing it down, but she goes out because she needs the exercise.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 09/05/2024 15:16

Ban them immediately or issue them with all a duty labradoodle so they can access the parks.

No labradoodle no entry.

On wet and windy days my good boy gets a minimal length walk around the local park. On lovely sunny days he gets a long walk in the nature which we have to drive to. Both of us enjoy a long sunny walk and neither of us enjoy a wet windy walk. It's not that complicated to understand surely?

Save your displeasure for your LA for not providing more parks.

They all seem happy to build and stuff people like sardines in new builds, but never think of anything beyond that.

NeverHadHaveHas · 09/05/2024 15:32

OP I used to feel the same about picnic tables at the local outdoor play area. Nov-March I would be there in sub-zero conditions with toddlers freezing my nips off with barely a soul to be seen, then had to arm wrestle people for a picnic table in summer. If you’re not committed enough to use them in a blizzard you can get to the back of the queue when it’s scorching 😁

RedBananas12 · 09/05/2024 15:32

My grandad used to be like this with the local pub at Christmas. He used to wear a T-shirt every year that said 'a pub is for life, not just for Christmas' 🙈😂
